Any Star Trke fans here?

So I was browsing the web the other day and managed to come across this new independent Star Trek film that is being produced. Its crowd/fan funded but done professionally.

They raised $10K on Kickstarter to prove that they could do the job. The 10K was used to make "Prelude to Anaxar," Anaxar being the name of the film they are currently making.

Give it a watch, see what you think!

EDIT: Typo'd the thread title..damnit.

I don't even know what "Star Trke" is.

Now "Star Trek", that I know. But I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on it.

LOL, why is yours a genetically mutated squirrel ?

I don't know why I went the Purell logo. My sister and my mom are always pushing for me to use it (although I have managed to keep it out of the Buick), so I guess it's some sort of psychological thing where I'm trying to overcome the Purell by becoming it. IDK. Does that last sentence sound Like I haven't had lunch yet?

Sounds like you missed breakfast too!

I prefer to wash my hands in brake cleaner and painting prep chemicals before each meal!

The clip was fun and very well done. They made several scene look alikes from other trek shows but did it first rate. It makes me want to see their feature, when they get it done. Wonder if whoever owns the Trek franchise now will let them publish it?

I liked the production value. Plot seemed plausible. Seeing Tony Todd not as Kurn was nice. He has a commanding voice. Would do better as a series in my mind.

I grew up with Star Trek,it did alot for race relations, and Russia US policys.
Alot of things and devices have been inspired.Even the future wrap drive space craft creates a wrap bubble.

I think CBS owns the rights in this case. At least they mention that on their Kickstarter page.

As far as I knew...CBS owned the TV show rights and Paramount owns the movie rights.

Their story is based on based on items mentioned in the original series by James Kirk, so I think that falls directly to CBS?

I also think I saw some mentioning about some rule for trek fan films had to be non-profit? Could be wrong.

His voice is amazingly distinct. I recognized him immediately. I was pleased they got many old trek actors in there too, adds a good amount of presence and credibility.

I thought bringing in the vulcan was a good touch, does a good job of connecting the Enterprise TV show to this and into TOS.

Had they not cancelled the Enterprise TV show, this plot/topic might have been covered in a few episodes. During the final season they were starting to make more and more connections with TOS topics. They touched on the eugenics wars and khan, the mirror universe, and a few other things that I am forgetting.
