I am fairly irate while writing this. Not because of the amount of damage done, but by the way it was done. As i was leaving my high school today, i noticed this "little boy"(reffering to him as that as that is how he acts), doing brake stands in our parking lot, driving over medians with bushes in them, peeling out over the bushes etc in his jacked up toyota 4x4. I get into my car to leave, and end up right beside him, going into one lane from two. He stops to talk to a girl in his class, and i proceed in front of him(one car goes, another goes, standard thing), well he didn't like that, floors it and ALMOST hits my car, i'm talking like inches. Next thing i know, before i can put it in reverse to back up so he doesn't hit my car, he does ANOTHER brake stand, moves forward a little bit and his front wheel hits my bumper. I get out to look at the damage, and see a large black mark and scratches in my front bumper. I yell, I"m sending you the bill for this a$$ hole!! and he procedes to get out of his truck and get into my face. Keep in mind, this guy is hyped up on steriods(common knowledge, his coach knows and doesn't do anything because he "performs") and weighs probably 215lbs. I wasn't about to get into it with this guy, becuase, granted i can take car of myself, i know when to not be stupid as well, plus, i would like to graduate in a couple weeks. I proceed to tell him, i'm sending you the bill for the damage, and he says "send me the bill b*tch, i'm gonna beat you". Now his other azzhole football friend who is also hyped up on steroids has gotten out of his 2001 expedition with 22's(stolen once, and he bought new ones that cost 2500 a peice!!!, rims alone!!), and is standing right beside him. These guys look exactly the same build wise, and realize non of my friends are there to back me in the slightest, so i should probably just sit back down. I do that and the dean calls over the guy in the pickup, and he then proceeds to do a brake stand right in front of the dean. The dean says a few choice words to him, and tells him to get the hell home and he'll deal with him tomarrow. I proceed to go get an estimate for the damage-165 dollars, plus the two days i wont have the car-rental car at 30 bucks a day. His stupididy will cost him over 200 bucks, or at least cost his parents that. This kid has so much money it's unreal, and has no respect for anyone else's property. The damage to my car is so slight, that if it truely were an actual accident i would say forget it, but because of the way he acted i am pursuing this. If anyone has any tips/advice on how i should handle this let me know, the dean saw it and is on my side, and i have a written estimate. I dont plan on using the rental car thing up front but if he balks i will hit him with that too. Man i am pissed as hell right now, i can't beleive some people at my school. The only people that like this kid are the rich "preppy jocks" who are on 'roids, do drugs, and get drunk everyweekend with him. Other than those select people everyone hates him/them. Man, i hope he never ends up as my manager or something, that would make me sick.....

Whoever said these are the best years of your life was a sadist or a liar. Im SO glad my highschool days are long gone. Some things never change. The only consolition I have for you is from my own observations. Farther down the road when you are making a life for yourself this guy will have nothing but the memories of his glory days remembered throgh an alcoholic haze.

just called them based on the advice of you and my father, i was told basically i have commited a hit and run, and that i need to talk with my SRO(which we dont really have one) or stop by and pick up a delayed accident form-which i can't do because i have work in a 1/2 hour. So my best bet i'm thinking is to first thing in the morning, go talk to my dean and see what the standard procedure on this is. Any other thoughts? i never thought of getting a police report right there, we even had a cop directing traffic that i could have asked to do it. Except of course, then my insurance company could find out about it etc, as if my insurance isn't high enough already....

Hey Ryan,

These situations are all about backup - written backup for your testimony. I would definitely file a report with the police and then see if your Dean will provide a written statement. Also - get statements from any other witnesses you can. The more the merrier, if you are serious about this. Good luck!

If the damage really is not a big deal for you, don't try to make it a big deal for him, because you can't. If you're persueing this to "teach him a lesson", he's not gonna learn from this incident but he will learn that lesson sooner or later.

You have to pick and choose your battles carefully.

man, what a crappy day, my limo situation for prom got all fubar, with people making me try to decide between friends, and i didn't get hardly crap for a raise at work because i didn't go out and smoke out/get drunk with the past managers who did the raises, and i told them i didnt think they should do that ON THE JOB! seems like the only way to get ahead is to do drugs and get f-ed up every weekend. Oh BTW, the dean was standing RIGHT THERE the entire time this guy was in my face, seems my catholic high school cares more about the athletic guy on drugs than the safety of it's students, i dont even care if i walk for graduation anymore at this point, i just want a diploma. what a crappy day

Yeah, going up against the local football hero can be a b**ch...Hang in there, Ryan. I was a "band-geek" AND a "car-geek" in school, so I'm not fond of those mulletheads either.

Sounds like he's just a meathead who is not going to do anything worthwhile in life after school, so don't worry...he'll get what's coming to him someday. Karma's a b**ch.

If you can get him to pay for it, that's great, but if not, I don't know if it's worth throwing your last days of school into a huge turmoil.

if it were me, I'd get a written statement from the dean stating he witnessed it. I would also grab a video camera and try to catch him in the act of his reckless behavior.

I would take the bill with the written statement to his parents, and explain to them if the bill was not paid, you would seek legal counsel and sue not only for damages, but legal fees and court costs.

I do not take anyone damaging my car lightly, even if it was the slightest bit of damage. I would make sure it was handled to the full extent of the law.

If he had done that to my car, I would have immediately called his plates in on a hit and run, filed a report, and contacted my attorney to prepare paperwork.
