Not in my plans for tonight...

... being called an ******* by the FIL type person I've been jumping through major hoops to keep alive and covering all the bills for these last several years.

Grrr. Grumble. Spit, cuss, swear, and flail. Here, not in my kitchen, because some small part of me doesn't want to believe he means what he says.

You know he is not capable of reasoned opinions, right?

Sorry you are going through this. There is a special place in Heaven for people who care for family members who are unable to care for themselves, and a more special place for those who care for unappreciative family members.....or should I say those incapable of understanding their inability to care for themselves or the level of appreciation which is appropriate....you know.

Best wishes to you.

I guess he is seldom completely in his right mind anymore. Shame. I really do like the guy. He's really just a cranky old fart like me. You and your wife don't deserve any of the abuse however. At least she loves you all the more for dealing with him. Hang tough and enjoy the good days (I hope there are still some).

Of course, you're absolutely right Tom, though not entirely accurate. He is capable of reasoned opinions, and surprises the heck out of everybody who talks to him; there is so much that DOES work in his brain that it often makes it that much harder to remember how much doesn't.

I know now (and did last night, I just wasn't in a place that let it into the foreground of my whining/thinking ) that he really didn't intend to be mean. I was off calming down by myself (and venting here, thanks for being there y'all!) in the office and he came in after a bit and said he didn't really think I was an ******* and that he appreciates all that I do for him and Darling Wife.

I told him I really do enjoy having him around and that me trying to talk him out of buying a soda (after 2+ weeks of his blood pressure being through the roof and looking very much like he's developed a whopper of a caffeine sensitivity) is just me trying to keep him upright. We agreed that finding the balance between happy and healthy is something we're all going to have to keep talking about and adjusting day by day.

Campfire was circled round, hands were held, and Kumbaya was sung. We now return to our regularly scheduled insanity.

Bob, there really are very, very few days that aren't good. There are a ton of crazy ones, but evenings with kitchen dancing outnumber the cranky events by several hundred to one:

And nobody's allowed in that hole in laundry room... well, unless one of them pesky revenuers shows up!

Well, thank goodness! Glad to hear it!
