A New Low: Mercedes Driving Panhandler

Pregnant beggar caught driving off in Mercedes-Benz | abc7.com

"She sits there with the sign. He goes (and) parks the Mercedes. They put up the sign and not less than five minutes, here she is getting money from all these people," Smith said.

I've been tempted to go out with a sign that says, "Need money for Mercedes parts" just to see what happens.

That's a 10 year old w211. Nice low mileage ones might bring 10k. Plenty for sale in the $5000-$7000 range. They could certainly be in need of help, especially of their sbc brakes are out of warranty.

Modern day yellow journalism at its finest.

This is nothing new, every city I've ever lived in does one of these "exposés" whenever there isn't much going on, did Isis not do anything crazy this week?

This is why I don't give bums money, many aren't actually destitute.

The guy who stands on the offramp near my house often has his keys and toyota keyless entry fob on his carabiner hanging off his belt. I suggested he hide his keys for better results, and I was advised to go **** myself. Needless to say the next day I was raining I didn't steer clear of the puddle he was next to.

I thought it was a 211. I wasn't sure.

When I was in college in Atlanta there was a fairly successful panhandler who frequented the 14th St. off ramp whose sign read, "Why lie? I need a beer."

IDK a Mercedes driving banker after 2008 is more insulting, or an oil trader.

Whats a few bucks in hand outs vs a teachers pension fund?

I was told of a story about two college girls in Austin that needed rent money. So they went to a thrift store and bought the smallest bikinis they could find and made a sign saying they needed money for rent.

They were arrested after an hour or so and when they were dragged into the jail house reporters that are always hanging out there got the story and made it front page news.

Lawyers, who are really very nice people down deep, lined up to defend the girls for free. The facts that both were Babes in string bikinis had nothing to do with it. This was a free speech thing!

The charges were dropped and some of the lawyers even paid their rent. The girls tried to panhandle again but were so famous no one would give them anything.

Maybe they should have made signs that said 'Don't hate me because I'm hotter than you'?
