Glen Camble Farewell tour.

Sucks that he has alzheimers. The world will be a slightly quieter place when he leaves.

His last song "I'm not going to miss you". MUst admit I shed a tear or two when I listened to it.

Remember running into him across the road when there was a small rural vegetable store there. He was on his way with Ann Murray to her cottage further up the road. Struck me he was getting pretty old even back then.

There has been a lot of money spent in trying to find treatments for the disorder that he has. This disease also seems to kill but I never tried to find out how. Tragically it is very hard usually on close family members to deal with.

The tour of the film is complete and I read the interview of the filmmaker, Glen and his wife. Jimmy Webb commented that Glen he knew was already gone but didn't mean it in a disrespectful way, just acknowledging how great a talent and human he was.

You can say much the same for Brian Wilson. His demise was self-induced; not Alzheimers, but it is tragic all the same.

I heard the song "I'm not going to miss you" and was a bit perplexed as to it's meaning. Now knowing what it is about and what's happening to Glen Camble I cannot help but get a bit depressed when hearing it. Very touching song.

Glenn Campbell. Man, I grew up....and I grew old listening to him. When I got out of the service in '67, "Gentle on my Mind" and the Smothers Brothers made him an overnight star.

His songs just resonate in me....

I still might run in silence, tears of joy might stain my face
And the summer sun might burn me till I'm blind
But not to where I cannot see you walkin' on the back roads
By the rivers flowin' gentle on my mind

..............as do Gordon Lightfoot's. Another Giant of the same era.

It's so nice to meet an old friend and pass the time of day
And talk about the home town a million miles away
Is the ice still on the river, are the old folks still the same
And by the way, did she mention my name
Did she mention my name just in passing
And when the morning came, do you remember if she dropped a name or two
Is the home team still on fire, do they still win all the games
And by the way, did she mention my name

gordon lightfoot for lovin me and did she mention my name live in concert bbc 1972 - YouTube

I had an acquaintance of mine that had it and he starved to death on purpose from what I was told.
