Yes, 19.28 l/100km is a pitiful result for a passenger car, but consider that the SuperTruck weighs just under 30 tonnes and it starts to look a lot better. Let's also not forget its 10.7 litre, 290kW/1898Nm diesel engine either.

Very cool! I have a cousin that was a trucker for a small trucking company for several years...he told me once that the difference between 5-6 mpg determines making vs. losing money. I wonder how thin the margins are nowadays.

In a 2,706 mile drive (Los Angeles to Baltimore), the Super Truck might use 221 gallons of diesel; while a current Freightliner might use 300 gallons.

A brief google says there are around 2,000,000 tractor trailers operating in the US. Given they could make that trip many times a year, that's a whole lot of saved fuel.

Just wait for self driving trucks. The economics incentive to get rid of the driver is huge. I almost feel sorry for the current crop of truck drivers. They will likely be the last.
