earliest vehicle to have a lift tailgate
What was the earliest vehicle to have a top hinged tail gate? I don't mean top hinged glass as part of a tailgate with a bottom hinged or "clam shell" component, rather the entire tailgate is hinged on top. I also don't mean a trunk lid over a cargo area distinct from the main cabin. I figure it came in 55-56 when the VW bus allowed cargo access from behind, replacing the "barn door" hatch. Am I missing something earlier?
