Hi all,

I am looking for a few subtle mods to do to my W210 E300 turbodiesel, the car will be in the 'sleeper' style and so I will only be doing a few very subtle details to the car.

I am looking for a Mercedes 'racing' logo to add to the front grill, my car isn't tuned by AMG, Brabus or any of the other German tuning houses so I won't be adding any of those on there.

I was thinking about something like a simple 'R' badge much like Jaguar use, rather than being really company specific like a Honda 'type R' or Audi 'S line' etc.

I know that on Bentleys if the car was the race version with a turbo it had a red badge vs the standard badge. Not sure how that would work with my car as it has the 3 pointed star ornament rather than a flat badge - although I could perhaps run a flat badge and paint that red.

Just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions - basically I won't be adding a badge onto it for something it isn't, eg its not an AMG.

Have a look at Mercedes F-1 or DTM , there might be something there. Also have a look at the Mercedes SLS and SLR.

Will do, just researching into it at the moment but I have a feeling that I might look into repainting the blue part of the stock badge in red.

I was also looking back at earlier F1 with regards to when the silver arrows were running, it seems like Mercedes were running as a separate team along side the Autounions.

I will have a look though, might look at the DTM badges, thinking about running some subtle DTM tips on the exhaust.

What color is the car?

How about a red or contrasting area inside the star?

I doubt you'll have much luck as Mercedes did not have a special racing insignia. The only European maker I can thing of that had one may have been the clover leaf for Alfa Romeo. There are certainly different "livery" for the cars, but no special insignias.

turn the 3 point into a peace sign with a bar from a spare ornament!

Its metallic midnight blue, almost black its the sleeper project I have just started:

Might see if I could paint the blue part of the badge in red, although I had another idea which I think I might go with - fit a machinegun/aircraft gunsight instead - I think they are called 'spider sights'



It would be a really subtle change but might give some second looks - always thought that the mercedes hood ornament was meant to be used like that lol. Having now driving my E300 around a bit I now find its actual purpose is to locate the front of the car as its a very long way away!

IF you are going for the sleeper thing, isn't it supposed to be "Plane Jane" on the appearance where it looks as stock as the one coming off the line but able to run like a raped ape?

Don't do anything to the outside, just leave them guessing until your pop the hood...

Rather than paint you could remove the badge and use a red vinyl circle then reinstall.

There needs to be a very subtle hint that something is going on.
