I am done with this rain. Done.

I've been here since 1997 and I cannot remember this amount of rain over this span of time. According to Weather bug we have had just under 14" of rain this month alone. I have had to drop the level on my pool twice and and I'll have to do it again tomorrow. Just took the dog out to potty and she is looking at me like "WTF is going on out here?" She is a water dog but even she is looking at me like "what did you do to cause this?". We are usually swimming by this time of the year and the pool is at 72-74 degrees. The way its looking now we won't be swimming till mid to late June. My back yard is flooded which I have never seen since I have lived here.

Im watching the news now and we are not going to see the sun for at least another week.

According to CNN this is the most rain fall we have ever had and it still coming. The last record was 14.5" in June of 1989. This month we have had over 17" and ... did I mention it's still coming?

Not sure. I think I read where TX is one of 9 states expected to be in drought conditions in the near future. I guess time will tell.

I LOVE THE RAIN!

So Biblical! Noah's Ark, and all that Old Testament scripture on water....

I am reminded of CCR's Greatest Swamp Water Rock 'N Roll Hits:

'Green River'
'Who'll Stop The Rain'
'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'
'Born On The Bayou'

and who could forget the #1 Swamp-Water-Borne CCR Song:
'Jerimiah Was A Bullfrog,' - Was A Good Friend Of mine - song?

It's the worst I've seen it since the late 1950s and early 1960s flooding!

Texoma Dam is running over the dam last I heard.

We've got gale-force winds driving the rain over here too!

I love rain and wind!

I love the rain too.

I wish I could say, why not send some our way? California badly needs it.

I grew up in Roswell, NM - 1955 to 1967 - and we would get some torrential rain now and then. Flooding was always minimal, hardly ever any houses but large ponds would form here and there in low spots. But I do remember loving the sudden deluge. You could smell it hours away.

I guess you could get worn out on it though. Hard to imagine. Good luck y'all.

Yeah Paul, I think it is safe to say that the drought is over in most of Texas. Quite a relief too after some of the global warming crowd were saying a few years ago that the drought would never actually end.

Sooner or later it will end in California too. Hang tough.

Skid, i think you are forgetting about '91. '91 was by far he worst on the red river since 1957. Since i live about two miles from the river i have a good feel for its flooding levels. I have been overflying the area every time i get a gap in the weather as i did in 91. It is nowhere near as bad as '91. Not yet at least.

You still don't get that an isolated event does not mean the drought is over. For.the drought to be over we would have to have sustained rain for years. Jeez. How many times do you have to be told this? Weather is not the same as climate no matter how much you want it to be.

The CNN article above says that 89 held the record at 14" and we are now at 17".

David, there is plenty of cheap housing in Indiana. I'm sorry to say you'll have to live in a city to enjoy enlightened governing though.

Um... where is the drought/climate change correlation on this scientific chart? Currently we are nowhere near the extremes...
