It's My Party and We'll Fight If We Want To...

At least until the jack-booted thug shows up.

McKinney, Texas, Cop Placed on Leave After Pulling Gun on Teens at Pool Party - NBC News

Administrative leave?

In this case I hope that's a euphemism for "as we begin the negotiation with the police union so we can fire this moron."

My favorite part of the YouTube video that emerged is the tactical barrel roll at 0:06

Assault with a deadly weapon!

That's all the cops needed to put them all in leg irons and threaten to throw them in the pool that way if they didn't OBEY!

Yeah, I was thinking what an idiot at that point, too. I mean once your pride is injured you're more likely to come up looking for someone to hurt.

Here we go again. What does it take for people to learn that it takes time for the facts to emerge? Did any of you hear what was said by all involved?

It might very well be that the cop needs to be thrown under the jail, but when will we learn to get the facts first. Hands up, don't shoot, turned out to be a lie made up by a lying witness. Wouldn't it have been better to wait for the facts before destroying a young cop that fought for his life? At least in Baltimore they did a pseudo investigation before taking action.

It is interesting that there are so many people that think they can do an adequate investigation with nothing more than a home made video, with no information about what transpired or what was said. Too bad this massive intelligence is not available to law enforcement. They could save the salary of all those investigators.

Not sure why people won't learn not to challenge the police. It doesn't matter if you agree with them at the time or not. When the police issue a directive, they have to follow through to the end. They don't have the option to back down. When they're approached by unknown individuals, they have to assume they mean the officer harm.

One thing that is clear if you watch the entire video.... There were two more cops there that were telling people to take it easy and at one point they even grab the out of control cop and pull him back when he is bound and determined to take down two guys who were looking at him.

I mean.... Just watching something is enough to set the guy off to the point that he is going to deal with your being there?

There is also the fact that at four of the guys there were doing just what he told them to do but they were either not doing it fast enough to suit him or they were doing it too fast to suit him. The look of confusion on their faces tells you that they understood this guy had gone all unprofessional on them and they were trying to do what he told them to do.

So when someone says the only thing necessary to keep a situation under control is to do what the cops tell you to do then is the first thing you should ask is just how fast you are supposed to respond to their commands?

And the fact that the other two cops could be heard muttering to themselves while not doing anything is also telling. If the situation had been such a riot then why were they just standing around?

Interesting back story to this event.

The teens and young adults weren't there as residents, but apparently one of the residents who organized a "pool party" with food, drink and a DJ over social media with an admission fee.

The people that paid expected a pool at the "pool party" however permission to use the HOA pool was never obtained. Paying participants tried to get into the community pool and the cops were called.

Doesn't exculpate, but does provide context.

Well, in this case the video did capture the guts of the story. That the PD says he was out of control (something no one doubts who has watched the video) and that he has resigned is, as Paul Harvey used to say, the rest of the story. It remains to be seen whether he will be charged with any crime.

Officer caught on video in Texas pool party incident resigns

The saddest thing is that he has received death threats... Allegedly.

I don't disagree. What I am saying is that in most of these highly publicized situations, the initial impression taken from the news media turns out to be wrong once a more complete picture comes together. When will we as a society learn not to jump to conclusions.

Remember the news media sensationalizes such things to sell advertising time. The first impression from early, sensationalized news stories is often wrong. We need to learn this.

I didn't hear a call for lynching from these 'halls.' The video tells quite a bit. The group with the Orange Bikini girl (OB) was slowly moving away from the officer, as per his orders, when he decided to grab OB and manhandle her.

His actions threatened to blow the lid off a scene that was starting to calm down.

Sounds like the chief said something like: "We don't want people rioting here so you need to bow out, more or less, gracefully..."
