Taking a promotion to a Superintendent level at the mill

Good paying job for Soperton, Ga:). Unfortunately, I suspect they will want more of my time:rolleyes:

I will become more and more selective on what I work on from here on but you can bet I will continue to maintain the company CEO's 05 CLK and his wifes X5 (he lives in Baton Rouge, La.). Whenever it needs service he lines up a trip to the mill.

Skid Row Joe 06-15-2015 09:24 PM

That's great news, Jim!:)

w123fanman 06-15-2015 09:31 PM

PARSHOOT1 06-15-2015 10:02 PM

A good month, was it a graduation??..now a promotion. The CLK & X5....agreed, it's always worth remembering who pays the bills ......

Mölyapina 06-15-2015 10:04 PM

Thanks

I've been there 2 years and 6 months but have 30 years experience in other mills.

Yep with the exception that my dad died on May 16th (two days after sons graduation).

t walgamuth 06-16-2015 07:08 AM

Life is full of ups and downs. Its always good to remember so you won't be too surprised when bad things happen and not get too high when its all good. (Its rarely all good!)

elchivito 06-16-2015 07:58 AM

Well done. Congratulations!

kerry 06-16-2015 10:00 AM

Congrat's.

What kind of mill? I did 12 yrs, 10 in a slabbing mill and 2 in the powerhouse.

Paper, we make paper for cardboard boxes and paper bags using 100 percent recycle. Been in various capacities as an engineer in the paper industry since 1989.

panZZer 06-16-2015 05:08 PM

the #1 product America produces comes out of your plant, cardboard. its all shipped to china,
and then made into box's and comes back here with those
cheap azz harbor freight tools in them,

and cheap azz lighting fixtures,
and cheap azz ikea furniture,
and cheap azz dog food,
and cheap azz kiddie toys,
and cheap azz electronics, and cheap azz
and cheap azz

Air&Road 06-16-2015 06:16 PM

My most sincere congratulations Jim. Don't let Panzzers blaming your company for the trade with China deter you. That's a lucky outfit to have your contribution.

Got a source for that? It seems China does much, if not all, of its cardboard manufacturing and such "in house" so to speak. In fact, China has greatly curtailed taking our recycled paper stocks.

engatwork 06-16-2015 06:42 PM

Actually P you got that wrong. We don't ship anything overseas. Everything gets put on a truck or train car and sent to a converting facility in the USA:). Some of our paper goes all the way to Ca on a train car.

If you are up to date on your Paper Science you would be able to tell the difference between paper Made in the USA and paper Made in China. The Chinese paper is a little different color. We use 100% recycle as our raw material. You know how much certain greenie types like to tell ppl how great that is but you would not believe how much trouble it is to get that plastic out of that paper. Think about the last time you removed a tv from a box. What did you do with the plastic? I'll post a pic one day:).

Next time you wipe your arse thank a papermaker:).

I'd never have guessed. :D

Do you also service his wife? :D

engatwork 06-16-2015 06:54 PM

Nothing like a good lube job to keep em coming back for more. I maintain a professional relationship with the CEO and his wife:).

I plan to only service my customers that drop the car off and indicate what they want to be done and don't inquire about the pricing. The days of dealing with folks driving Mercedes and BMW and asking how much is an oil change are gone for now:).

So hookers are not professional? :D

Why is that? Do YOU ask for pricing? I know I shop so I can't say that you cannot shop since I do the same.

So how much more, percentage wise is this job worth? Is it worth moving?

engatwork 06-16-2015 07:24 PM

I ain't moving. It is a promotion in the mill that is about 17 miles from house:). Mostly interstate with two stop signs. 37% pay bump:). I am finally making more than the wife (#2).
