I'm young and they attracted me years ago, it's the whole "MSRP" thing that has kept me away.

Exactly. Although you could be 22, work in tech, and be rolling in cash these days.

Clearly they want to take a poke at Bentley with this model.

Rolls-Royce Dawn Model Information

Way too many moving parts to sync properly to get me interested in a high end convertible. I remember the Don's woes with his MB Cab. roof problems.
Don't care for the square nose, but the rest of the car is well appointed. Techies or hedge fund managers. Wouldn't go well with my client base.

Could we interest you in a pre-owned Bentley, perhaps. He's been doing a lot of TV advertising locally over the last six months or so.

Besides the Phantom, modern RR's always look better in real life I think. But if i had the dough and the need, I would go for a Bentley Mulsanne; understated with a presence.

I was kicking tires over the weekend and discovered....

A nice S550 is running about $115,000 give or take a few thousand.

A Maybach package on a S600 is right at $190,000, which didn't seem out of line but all the money seems to have gone into the V-12 and the read seating area. I don't sit in the rear so I could not see spending that kind of money.

Actually $190,000 was the price for the entire car and not just the Maybach upgrade.

But... I was told, and shown photos of, a coming S class Convert that should be hitting the market in a few months. No price yet, but numbers in the $20,000 range were being tossed around for this option.

So could this droptop Royce be an example of 'vapor ware' to make the Mercedes buyer wait until they can also sample the Royce?
