Question w210 Electronic Ignition Switch Clicking ...

Hi all. My EIS has been making a random clicking noise every now and then. It doesn't affect the car's start up, but it makes the horn, sunroof and automatic locking system stop working randomly. When I touch/hold the key fob, it stops clicking. I've tried both my keys and they appear to be prone to the same issue. I think the relay responsible for making contact in the EIS is abruptly disconnecting and reconnecting certain features of the car due to some mechanical issue inside the EIS. There was a forum on this issue years ago but it was left alone w/o further resolution!
I would appreciate any help/advice I can receive from anyone with similar experience, someone knowledgeable in this area or anyone having an opinion. Thanks in advance!
