Of Course It Does, That's Why It Tastes Good!

Bacon and other processed meats can cause cancer, experts say | Reuters

The review by the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), released on Monday, put processed meat in its group 1 list, which also includes tobacco and asbestos, for which there is "sufficient evidence" of cancer links.

Red meat was classified as probably carcinogenic in IARC's group 2A list, to which it has also added this year glyphosate, the active ingredient in many weedkillers.

I quit eating anything with sodium nitrate,it is in every processed meat, and lunch meats. It is extremly bad stuff.I try and eat only lean meats, but less beef. The original Cattle had more lean meat, now they are bred to have more fat,so they weigh more.If you eat wild, not corn fed animals the safer you are.Corn increases fat in animals, notice deer, and buffaloe so lean.

If I cut everything out, will I live forever, or will it just feel that way?

No you won't yet,but you won't die screaming

your risk of cancer from eating bacon is probably less then living in california.

They also claim red meat is "probably" carcinogenic too.
Probably, thats a scientific term??

Casts some doubt on the whole study. For me anyways.

Nitrate's also make a great explosion if handled correctly, or should I say incorrectly.

I might as well make this thread my first post and sorta alienate myself right off the bat...

This story is only a half-truth. processed meat is bad for you, i.e. luncheon meats that are ground up and pumped into some arbitrary form or meats that are preserved with enough chemicals to level a village are of course not healthy. Meat from animals that are factory farmed and force fed a completely unnatural diet and a ton of medicines to offset said diet are also terrible for you.

But here's the good news. Fat, cholesterol, and meat are good for you. So start eating uncured, grass-fed bacon; truly free range chicken eggs;and my favorite, a huge juicy ribeye steak. Make green, leafy veggies and other non-starchy veggies a large portion of your diet as well. If you're going to eat fruit, try to limit it to berries if you're trying to lose weight. Berries affect your blood sugar and insulin response the least. Just go easy on the white potatoes, bread, pasta, other processed carbs and/or sugar.

I've spent quite a while reading up on health and diets lately and that is the underlying message I've seen from what I've read. Cholesterol and fat are absolutely essential to the bodies(ESPECIALLY THE BRAIN)proper function. They are also the building blocks, basically, of all the hormones in the body.

Two incredible books I've read so far are:

The Great Cholesterol Myth by Jonny Bowden
The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz

There are plenty more on my list but those are a great primer on the subject
