Once the Russians got involved it seems that the problem went away. That is the way it usually goes for bullies. Sooner or later the bully picks on the wrong dude and someone shows the bully that he isn't the tough dude he thinks he is.

Still there, but pickings have gotten slimmer it seems....
Somali pirates seize Iranian, Thai ships - CNN.com ..........Pirates used to have hundreds of hostages, including Americans, Britons, Indians and South Africans, who they used to extort ransom money from family members or governments. But the presence of international navies such as the European Union's Navfor and NATO, and the presence of on-board security teams, had dramatically reduced that number. Now, there are fewer than 40 hostages in pirate hands. However, Steed says a regression is a possibility............. |

The Russians and French are good at killing them, especially the Russians who view the rules of engagement differently than NATO.
A lot of the commercial traffic now has PMC's on board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESFFFW0B64I You know all those Blackwater guys in Iraq? They didn't disappear, they are on commercial ships now.

I had always read that they didn't want arms on board as it made for problems when they entered the legal jurisdiction of others. One imagines those roadblocks have been overcome.

just for you this is what I do at the USPS plant http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes173024.htm as you can see I am paid what the market says I should be paid. If I was working for Phillip Morris doing the same work I would be making considerably more, if I was working for a start up or a local field service I'd make a little less. I received all my training in the Navy. quit being a H8R
