Most any MB diesel sedan in great condition and low, low miles on them get very pricey.

W124 convertibles and the Porsches that nobody wanted up to two years ago. And I think we will see low mileage prestine 560SEC's in the $50/100k in the next couple of years. The BMW 840ci will go up, nice ones are already in the $20K range.

I doubt Mercedes Diesels will go the way of the 190SL. Diesel drivers are cheap.

With just how few 124 coupes were built I'm a bit surprised they can be had so cheap. My '91 only had 1928 siblings. By 95 at the end of production less than 900 were built.
I don't really care if they go up in value or not. I have wanted one ever since I started working on Mercedes and that's been almost 20 years. Now that I have one, I'll never sell it.

Watch the Bring a Trailer auctions and you get a good idea about what is getting valuable. A BMW 540i E39 just fetched something in the mid-high teens.
Datsun Z's are going up. I wouldn't doubt the the 280ZX will start going up soon too.

BMW 2800CS/3.0CS, Karmann Ghias, BMW 2002's, Porsche 912's, Porsche 914's, and of course Volvo P1800's are my bets. If you want to go a little bit more blue chip, the Countach and the Testarossa are SKYROCKETING in value, even more so than the 300SL's (comparatively).
