We just learned that this premi grandson has been accepted into Purdue on merit. They are not allowed to see what if any concessions are made in the pre college schools to any disabilities.

We are so proud of him. He is a hard worker, participates in sports and lifts weights. He is a good looking young man but it appears he may not get any of his father's height. He is about 5' 8 like I am.

Good story. Congratulations

Just wondering, a friend of mine was a preemie in approximately 1955. She is legally blind (20% in one eye only), probably to a worse degrees than your grandson. it was caused by too much oxygen. Back in the day they thought 100% oxygen would help with various issues in premature birth. Turns out they were wrong, there have been quite a few similar cases. Not sure when that was discovered as a problem. Was that the issue with your grandson?

o2. I knew keeping it too high was bad. We went down nearly every day. I always turned it down but whenever I got back they'd have it up too high.

Some things just never change.

Smile Children & Grandchildren

So much good news here ! .

Children are the future, too many forget that and consider them an unnecessary burden .

Post Kids, Grand Kids & Great Grand Kids

Yep, I'm sure Nate is busting his buttons over them .

Too many parents want to be their kids friend instead of adult .

I still remember the day when my son came home and said "thanx Pop ~ today I finally understood what you were always trying to teach me, something really bad went sideways and I knew what to do " .

I'm still at it with the Foster boys ~ being teenagers they're often a surly bunch but whenever a problem occurs they come to me first .

Last night one left a steamer in the toilet, pretty soon SWMBO was screaming and the boy declared guilty was upset and cursing....

Smile Stiil Trying

The boy who did this latest thing has done it before .

He's a good kid at heart .

There's always something going on and my Sweet lets things go until she begins screaming....

Not the way I think children should be raised .

I remember when my son was maybe 12 and he asked me 'Pops, how do you always seem to know what I'm about to do wrong and caution me about the probable results ?' ~

Because my son, I was once young and no one in my family cared enough to teach me , they just wanted to yell at me after I'd screwed up and remind me I wasn't a wanted child .

Both of these boys are on track to graduate high school and one is talking about college in a serious way ~ he wants to learn something he can do to support himself .

The pooper kid in this story says he wants to be a Veterinarian but doesn't appear to grasp he needs to up his game at school first .

Me, I don't care what they do as long as it's legal and doesn't make them hateful like so many bottom rung jobs seem to do .

Good thoughts, Nate. Last time my oldest daughter was here she brought her son....it was for Christmas. As they were getting ready to leave he came up to me and said our house, which I designed and built, was the coolest house he ever saw......perhaps best compliment I ever got.

I will say that my house is unique in its features but was built with common skills and common materials required only. My favorite wood is red Oak....probably the most common tree around here which provides for trim and furniture. Hickory is a close second and Maple third.
