I want to get a new deck again!!

I am not sure but I want to replace my 1 year old JVC CD head unit with one that plays mp3s. I am not sure if I should but the thing is, I make alot of my own cd's and I always have to convert the mp3s to wave files and then I am limited to only 18 songs or so on a CD With a mp3 player I can have 150!!

And on a mp3 cd can I put it back in the computer and delete songs and put new ones if I want, sortive like rewritable???

Any opinions would be great and I dont really want to hear "its up to you!"

Thanks

I'm getting the pioneer premier 940 or whatever it is. I believe thats right. Plays MP3s, and is really nice. I have always been a fan of pioneer units, and alpine units.

Luckily I am getting mine for free from my friend who owns a stereo shop, because he ows me for helping him out on several occasions in the last 6 months, so hes giving me the head unit and an amp for my interior speakers.

No more CD Changer for me, I'm giving the alpine to my brother for his SL.

You do lose noticeable sound quality with the mp3s, but you can fit an entire collection of CDs on only a handful of disks that way, so you have to weigh the pros and cons....If you have a REALLY nice system, you can use EQ and volume to compensate somewhat for the loss of fidelity. Depends on how anal you really are about sound quality, I guess....

Personally, I think that Mp3s sound just fine, I myself cannot notice a discernable difference, unless the MP3 was made poorly, but every CD I have ripped into MP3's, has sounded just as good as the CD it came off of.

I have about 11 speakers on my computer, and 11 in my car.

The computer has two yahmaha 3 piece systems, a cambridge soundworks 3 piece system for rear channel, and two bose speakers for rear as well.

The sound from the computer is excellent, and can also be run through the home stereo and the 4 towers each with 12" woofers.

The car sounds great with MP3's. I use Nero, and can EQ the songs before burning. I will EQ them, go listen to it int he car, and make notes on the things I hear int he music, then I will adjust the EQ, and Reburn, and make more adjustments and the burn again. Most of my cd's take 5 times before they are complete, because I spend the time to EQ and test and EQ and test in my CD burning software, Nero. Ia lso add cross fading, and the CD's become basically continuous, like the radio as a song fades out, the other comes up, but with no pesky commercials or interruptions.

Sometimes I just burna disc and play it and its fine, but most of the times, I'll EQ it liek stated above.

If you have to convert to wav files first, my suggestion, is to get a cd burning program, liek nero or easy cd creator 5, which will automatically convert the mp3s as it records the disc. Nero is my favorite as it has the cross fading, EQ, and other effects you can do to the music as you burn, plus for me its an easy program to use, and has always worked flawlessly for me.

With nero I can select to make an audio cd, and just drop the MP3s I want onto the Audio CD Layout.

A common debate, but usually only ever true when using '128 Kilobit MP3s', which people *say* are CD Quality - they're not, and anyone can hear the difference. Download/encode your MP3s as 192Kbit, and very few people can tell the difference, certainly not me on my £1000 car system or my £1000 home system.

btw my Kendwood MP6090 plays MP3 from CD well, but the navigation system is pretty poor You can't see the names of the tracks until you've started playing one, so sometimes it's hard to find things (you can see the names of folders though).
