are you a giver,or a taker

I've posted this question at other sites. i look back on my life so far,and wonder have I just exsited in life like a parasite (all life forms are it seems) or did I give back to earth,or others.
We are taught early in school to be the best,to beat the other guy. Then older to buy a chevy truck to beat our neighbor's ford.To expand our business to beat out others into a empire. To put value in things that really can be reclaimed by the magma below our feet.To fight and die in wars controlled by banks, governments, and religous leaders.
Maybe this is why so many wealthy overdose on drugs, they feel they have failed.Or Man's judgement told them that.
Now I wonder what has man's legacy been, all this tech, and garbage strewn planet.

Think I found the answer.Even in the universe blackholes in galaxies that give birth to stars, sometimes eat stars. So the law of eating or feeding, and reproducing exist on a atomic level.

I think you've narrowed the definition too much or perhaps constricted it in a way which does not give it meaning. In other words, are you 'contributor' or a 'taker' from society?

There's a lot of folks who perpetually argue they are victims or are entitled to something, particularly from the government. I've always wondered when I hear those types of sentiments, what in the world did that person do for society? I think I can accurately guess they did nothing. That's right, they did nothing but breath.

To date, I have not heard a Veteran claim he's a victim for example. He may be pissed at the VA for screwing around with his benefits, but those EARNED benefits are his and not for the government to screw around with.

I see it all over the place with the left leaning members / social progressives. You know, one person is 'owed' healthcare at the expense of another. Or, they are 'owed' an unfair advantage because of this or that ... and the list goes on and on. Take a peek under the covers and those folks who claim they are owed something will invariably be nothing more than 'takers' from society who contribute virtually nothing. They eat up whatever society is willing to hand them and then complain it's not enough. But, point that out, and they will draw up the most extreme examples of where humans did not treat other humans nicely and use that as their example or justification as to why they are entitled to something ...

Only three types of people in this world.

Those who watch things happen.

Those who make things happen.

Those who dont have a clue about what is happening.

You've narrowed the question too much, an important third option should be "do you take care of yourself and let others take care of themselves?"

I've been a giver most of my life. Over the last year I've been cutting the parasites and takers out of my life and now I'm the third option. I just take care of myself. What I've gotten done in that time while only having to take care of myself has been phenomenal and brought me to tears.

My views strongly align with this.

Its always interesting how those most likely to pat themselves on the back for giving back to society are also those most likely to bitterly complain about others they consider unfairly taking from society for whatever reason, usually inaccurate.

Seems to me a true "giver" would be happy to help others even if they are in reality useless slugs.

Ridiculously accurate. Tell us more about all those horrendous parasites in your life you resent but still characterize yourself as a "giver" while complaining about them on the internet.

In my opinion 99% of the world are takers. Doing things for themselves and their own only, irritated with those that dont help themselves or need help. I dont see anything wrong with that, except when the self congratulation gets a little top heavy, thats when it gets a bit too hypocritical.

I only know a few true givers. People who invest their time and money giving back WITHOUT expecting a reward or recognition, and usually giving back by helping those who are most incapable of helping themselves through health, mental incapacity, or disability.
