Happy fourth of July!

Independence day. The day our forefathers declared the US to be a separate country from England. It was a grand experience in Democracy and Republican form of government combined. The words have endured and embraced modernity as the decades have passed.

Its not the perfect place to live but it is pretty darned good for most of us and it is still the land of opportunity where people from all over the world want to live.

Have a happy fourth!

Don't blow your fingers off!

I'll be home working on my Lotus 7 replica race car. We celebrated yesterday and the day before with my family.

I think I'll go put up my flag!

Cheers!

I noticed when hanging it on the porch that my old flag is a 48 stater! I remember when they changed the flags twice in grade school when Hawaii and Alaska were admitted as states!

I see both came in in 1959.

July the first is Canada day and brings forth a lot of activity. We Canadians are also well aware of the fourth of July American event.. I think both respective populations celibrate theirs in a similar fashion.

I watched the fireworks on the detroit river in 1974 from a dock in Windsor. Paying for my beer with a 20 dollar bill american with the exchange rate my beer cost about triple the normal cost. Great show though!
