spark plug selection experts?

Hi. I had my race car engine rebuilt and unfortunately my favorite machinist discarded my old plugs and I don't know what they were.

Its a 2002 acura K20a2 motor with 13.5 compression, moderate cams and built to run on E85. It of course has a header and a low restriction muffler.

Wondering how different they might need to be compared to stock?

Is there a website out there for calculating what plug to use?

You need these.

They work great in my tractor :D

Thanks Sid!

I did find a couple of sets of used plugs in my spares. I'll start there tomorrow.

INSIDIOUS 07-15-2016 11:57 PM

So then, what are the plug specs, compared to a stock ?

t walgamuth 07-16-2016 10:59 AM

I don't know yet.

I did some more searching and the consensus seems to be to use stock plugs. So I'll start there.

Us old farts don't hear pre-ignition rattle like we used to. Take some readings on the plugs.

It has a knock detection system too. But I'll be checking the plugs too.

Thanks for the comment!

Maybe take a set each of the next one or two cooler levels, just in case you do have issues you can swap them out while there? Can't see it running cooler and needing warmer plugs.

Probably an idea with merit.;)

INSIDIOUS 07-18-2016 12:23 AM

Now I notice the title says 'experts' - I apologize :D

t walgamuth 07-18-2016 06:58 AM

Hah! No worries!

I once heard "expert" defined as "a person who knows 10% more than 40% of the population".

t walgamuth 07-18-2016 09:31 AM

I heard it was someone from out of town.;)

INSIDIOUS 07-18-2016 10:23 PM

The farther away the more an expert ...

But seriously folks ...

The guy who has made every possible mistake at least once :D
