phenolic intake manifold gasket/heat isolator?
Anybody familiar with these? I am debating whether to install a new one on my K20 acura autocross engine or just go with the stock metal ones....? Looks like the folks who have used them have differing opinions of their value.

Hey T,I looked up info on the subject. From what I read it does not make that much difference. The bolts transfer the heat too.

The only cars I have seen them make a difference on were cars where it dramatically increased the size of the plenum. Like on a Nissan VQ35. I would think adding 1/2" to the runners on a K20 manifold isn't going to amount to much.
However, after watching you drill several hundred holes into a brake rotor chasing ounces of weight reduction, the fractional amount of power the spacers may add, may be worth it in your application given it is a true race car. In say an RSX at full weight the difference is probably entirely negligible. But in your case, maybe you would see the difference.

I have seen that gasket in person and also seen it installed, the manifold was still hot.

I went ahead and installed a new plastic one on recommendation of my favorite machinist.
Since the fuel injection is all set up using it I decided not to change that element and risk throwing something off.
