MLB Pitcher Jose Fernandez killed in Boat crash

The boat, apparently a fast run about sort of thing, was found crashed on the breakwater. The passengers were all dead. No information about how it happened. My guess is it was at night and they lost track of the breakwater location. Its pretty easy to see lights and head for them and miss something in the foreground.

It said no alcohol was involved, though frankly it sounds more like there would have been.

Apparently Jose was besides a great pitcher a great guy who was well liked and respected personally.

He immigrated (I presume illegally) on a boat from Cuba when a youngster.

On the trip from Cuba a lady fell off the boat. Jose jumped in and saved her not realizing when he jumped in it was his mom.

Thats a pretty dangerous section of water where the the crash happened. Lots of hazards and ship traffic in the area.
