The OD section has changed a lot over the years and has far fewer participants compared to the past as well. I think most here have been here for a long time.

just like everything else I came along at the end of the early yrs, had I known the old merc crowd would be taken over by the VW skinflints ....

I would have chosen some other kind of cool euro car than a cd, like a 912 or a volvo 140 coupe.

Change over in a forum membership is normal and healthy. There is little ground to bond people together other than the familiarity of arguing with the same people. Those on the same side of issues only rarely interact.
