Why not use an authorized MB dealership? Back in 2001, I bought my 88 300CE from a guy in Tampa. I told him to take it to the local MB dealer (Lokey?) and have them call me. After giving them my CC number, they gave it an inspection and sent me a detailed report of things major ( head gasket leak ) and minor (like light bulbs). Cost was under 300.00.
Then the seller & I went from there.
My car was sold in Manhattan to a guy from Roslyn NY. Must have used it as a winter car as it only had 41k after 13 yrs. Rust free. I assume you have done a Carfax on it?
