earphone i pod?

The Mrs. wants something like an I pod but built in headphones as the ear buds hurt her ears. It must have everything contained in the headphones as she does not want to fool with a cord and a second device.

Anybody know of such a product?

Well, yes and no. She wants to be able to choose her music and not have any commercials.

I'd look into Bluetooth headphones and use Spotify on a smartphone. You could also use them with an iPod...

Would that require a cord from the earphone headsets to the phone or I pod?

She does not want a cord.

Bluetooth is completely wireless. Connects with smart phones and iPods easily. Spotify is a subscription service for music...one of the best ones out there. Punch in an artist, and it will come up with nearly every song the artist did. Type in a song, and it will play nearly every recording of the song by multiple artists. You can also create your own playlists, or use it to play music you already own. $10 per month for advertisement free music streaming is not a bad price. I she has a car with a Bluetooth radio that allows streaming, Spotify can ply on that, too...I use it in the Jeep, as well as through my home stereo frequently enough that the price paid is well worth it.

OK, you left me in the dust with your terminology....sorry its my ignorance, nothing wrong with your advice. I'll mosey over to the local radio shack and see what they can tell me.

The music is pre-programmed, like commercial radio, but with a pretty broad variety of music genres available. You also get non-musical types of programming, such as news channels, sports channels, etc.

Pandora is another option for not-radio music.

They have free versions (2 or so commercials an hour) and paid (running $5 per month, if I remember correctly).

I've been using the paid version for a couple years - love it to death. Darling Wife uses the free version (when she isn't running through her own playlists of downloaded stuff) - the commercials are infrequent enough to not become hateful.

iPad/iPhone friendly version: Pandora at the Apple store

You can also listen on any web browser at Pandora's website.

I just re-read your original post - missed the "no second device" requirement.

If she wants to be able to just hit play and go, looks like the options are essentially zero. There is a page here out there for a set of headphones with a built in Android music player (which would allow listening to Pandora or Spotify without a phone), but their "online store opens soon" supposedly happened in October.

Lots of options out there is she's ok with loading music files from a computer onto the headset. Here's one option - includes an FM radio, as well.

You should be getting bombarded with pop up ads for these wireless products. I just got one on an item called "Bragi Dash" wireless head phones. I am going to Google it as we could use a set also.

just remember that if you use a streaming service on your phone to have a decent data plan with your carrier. Dont want data overages.
