Coffee mug...
I'm a creature of habit. I had one particular coffee mug for 10 years that was my favorite. It was a stoneware mug with travel lid. It was destroyed in a fire in 2007.
In 2008, my wife bought me a SS and pleather coffee mug at a local store...we were living in Utah at the time. It had a screw on top with a twisting seal that would allow you to drop it, toss it, hold it upside down, and nothing would come out until you opened the twisting top, allowing you to drink the liquid. I carried that mug around for 8 years. It's broken a number of times at the handle, where it connects to a metal bracket. After the last time breaking, my wife demanded that I purchase a new one. I had great problems spending $19 for a new coffee mug, but that was the price. It took me months to locate the exact replacement...apparently companies enjoy changing things to get us to buy new. Whodathunkit? At any rate, the new one came in yesterday, and the wife was happy. This morning, I took the old one into my shop and dug out the old epoxy putty that I used for the last repair. I cleaned everything up as good as I could, and used some plastiweld epoxy from JB Weld to repair it once again. Now I have two of these great travel mugs. The mug she bought is on the right, and the replacement is on the left. She paid $25 for it originally, and I paid $19 for the replacement. Now that the original is repaired once again, the new one will go up in the cabinet as a back up...just in case this one breaks again. If you're ever in the market for the perfect spill proof coffee mug, this is the one to get. I'll even share the link to it, if you're interested. photo uploading

Just so you know...it was the R107's fault for not having cupholders that caused my wife to buy the first one for me. So you can actually say that the cup is Mercedes related...

Damn Jon, still mourning the loss of a mug from 2007? You're worse than I am.

I'm a creature of habit. I've had the same brand and style of house shoe since before my kids were born...Lamo Romeo. I worn the same brand and style of work shoe since I was 17...a pair of Red Wing slip on steel toes, only now I'm wearing the same style without the steel toe. I have been wearing the same Wall's winter coat since 1998...one of the few items I was able to save after the fire. I had a hell of a time when my old La-Z-Boy broke and I found out they didn't make that model anymore. It took me 6 months to get used to the new one...and that was 2 years ago. I still have the old one in the basement that I sit in when I need a break from tinkering around down there. I'm thinking about having it re-upholstered so I can bring it back into the living room. I've already fixed the chair, but the wife demands it stay downstairs until I agree to make it match the sofa and loveseat. I find great comfort using the same stuff daily. I hate changing things. Hate it with a passion.

BTW...I still refuse to remove the tag from the new La-Z-Boy. It's still there, along with the swatch of fabric you're supposed to take with you when you purchase matching furniture. I refuse to accept the chair as a true replacement to the old one!
My wife just laughs about it and humors me...

When my old coffee maker died, and I was forced to locate a replacement, I scoured the internet in search of the exact model. It took me a few days. Once I located it, I bought three of them, just so I don't have to change.

Looks like this may be it (yeah for google image search!).
Quite a few reviews talking about mold trapped in the lid/cup rim. How'd you avoid that?

About the lid...if it's rinsed nightly and allowed to air dry in the open position, there's no problem. Taking it apart to completely clean it is simple...remove a threaded insert from the inside and remove the knob from the outside. There's a piece of rubber that acts as the spring and the locking cover. Give them a soak in hot soapy water, rinse well, and reassemble.
It's the only mug I've come across that is spill proof when the lid is closed. You can hold it upside down and shake the hell out of it and nothing will come out. The fact that it has kept hot coffee at a drinkable temperature for 4 hours is a major plus. Seriously...who keeps coffee in a cup that long anyway?
