My oldest daughter gave birth to my youngest family member on Tuesday. I'm the proud pappaw to a beautiful baby girl. The delivery was good, and mom and baby were back home by Thursday. We just got back from there a few hours ago, missing the freezing rain coming in tonight. I wasn't leaving town til I knew my child and her baby were safe and sound at home. It's been a long, but very eventful week.

Mom and baby were back home two days after the birth...things went that well. We're going back at the end of next month for a few days and will hold a post baby shower. I let the ex-wife handle the pre-baby one...and we come back in to get what everyone else forgot about. We'd rather be practical than stylish.

There is something to be said for being grandparents. Great grandparents will soon probably be on our horizon all too soon as well. The years seem to fly by much faster now as well in our cases. Congratulations.

With my oldest step-grandson being 13, in theory, it could happen in about 5 years or longer, if his parents raise him right.

This is what you have to look forward to Jon. My youngest at my house. He loves to get in the dog pen if we leave the door open and eat the dog food. Here he has done the deed and is making a getaway.

This was last week, this week he is tenatively beginning to walk without hanging on.

Not sure if she's eaten it, but I know my wife has told her to spit it out. She's had the dog's toys in her mouth, too...playing with mom's dog. She climbs in the cage, reaches through the bars, and locks herself in.

Who needs a playpen when you have a dog's cage?
