Car cover
I recently bought a MB car cover for my R129 from the dealer. It dawn on me that I did not ask for your opinion first. So, how good is the cover they sell at the dealer? I see quite a number of advertisements out there about the construct, water proofing and how the cover breaths. How is the OEM cover compared to those? From the owner's instruction, the OEM cover also claims to do everything other vendors do. Anyone did homework on this?

I have been using the cover from the dealer for almost a year now, and I would say that I am extremely pleased with it. It is very good at allowing water to transfer from the inside to outside, and protecting the car. Also, it is an exact fit and does not move around or fly off in any wind.

When I purchased my R129, I had talked to the dealer about a car cover. I have always had them for the Porsche's, but was interested in their comment. Anyway, I was informed that Mercedes uses the Noah Evolution II cover, and told that I could purchase it form an aftermarket company and save a few bucks. My car is also always garaged, so the moisture is really kept to a minimum. However, living at the shore, I am still subject to the ocean breezes and fog that seems a part of life here. I just feel that the cover offers added protection against any elements and helps keep the dust off.

My car is always garaged as well, and the cover is to prevent dust. I saw an advertisment that Noah 4 ply is supposedly the best type. I feel I made the right decision buying from the dealer knowing that the OEM cover is the same as Noah.
The fit is perfect as Ali mentioned and construction seems very durable. It also comes with a carrying bag so now I can use the cover if I were to take it out and park in public without haveing to worry about the prying eyes. ![]()

If you are going to use it in public parking lots, for about $8 or so, there is a lock and cable for it available from the dealer. The cable connects one side of the cover to the other underneath the car and is locked on. I am sure any generic steel cable and lock would accomplish the same goals.
It is obviously not foolproof, but at least it makes someone work to steal the cover if they want to. This way, instead of someone simply walking off with it, they will have to cut it off.
