1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SE good or bad?

Any thoughts on this car? I may sell one of our Miata and get another MB to go with our 94 E320. I'll call tomorrow and see what they have to say. |

You better find out what it really is. The ad says 300SE, but it also says V8. That's a contradiction! The seller might not know much about this car. If they have had it very long, that would mean they migh not have known how to take care of it. Have a good long discussion with the owner regarding service and maintenance history. Get documentation that all service according to owner's manual has been performed properly and on schedule.
That said, I have heard people simply rave about the 126 chassis. I would love to have one. The inline 6 cylinder 300SE is not much of a performer compared to the V8 420SEL or V8 560SEL, but it costs less to maintain and may be balanced better with the short wheel base and less weight in the engine bay.

Good point Rmasteller. I wouldn't sell the miata though! I have one of those also (and an Acura TL). The miata is one of the most fun cars I have ever had! Amazingly my diesel SDL gets just as good of gas mileage and goes twice the miles on one tank! I feel like the miata always has to stop to take a pee or i mean fill up.
