Texas tour

Just concluded an almost two week camping loop thru Texas. Palo Duro Canyon, Abilene State Park, Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, Pedernales Falls State Park, Goose Island State Park, Mustang Island State Park, Kerrville/Shreiner City Park, Lubbock Walmart, John Martin State Park. We saw parts of Texas previously unknown to us and avoided parts previously known and undesired. We'd initially intended to go as far east as Galveston Island State Park and work our way south west to Mustang Island but due to Galveston Island being booked up (for the Super Bowl?) we headed further west on the coast at Goose Island. We didn't do as much kayaking as I anticipated, partly because we didn't go to Port O'Connor where I thought we'd be able to kayak out to the old Matagorda Island State Park. We did enjoy the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, the Pacific War Museum in Fredericksburg (if it's possible to enjoy a war museum), the LBJ Ranch, the whooping cranes at Goose Island, the Texas Maritime Musuem, in Rockport with its relics of LaSalle's sunken ship, and the Padre Island Visitors Center. We missed enough to want to do it again sometime, probably over a 3 or 4 week period and not just two weeks. After the guy camped behind us at Walmart started his cheap lout generator 10ft away from our camper at 6:30am, I decided we needed background checks prior to purchasing a generator to assure that the buyer is not a prick. I learned other things too

Next month we're off to Australia for a camper swap, using our swappers Land Cruiser Troop Carrier camper for 5 weeks in eastern Australia. Looking forward to that. They'll be coming here to use our Fuso camper for a couple of months in the fall.
