If I had a million bucks... damn...

my daily driver would be:

a Diamond Blue R107 560SL maybe with Euro bumpers, and lights. I'd add Xenon headlights, a supercharger (i've seen a supercharged 500SEC).

the toy would be...

The 2003 SL55 AMG in Diamond Blue!!!!!!!!!!! That car is gorgeous!

Daily driver: Any 210 chassis with a 119 motor in it, either a E420 or something Euro that AMG had it's way with.

Toy: Gullwing, not a restoration, a good original. Million bucks may not cover it though, prices are really high. There's also a place I heard about that reproduces gullwings with modern MB running gear, that may do the trick
Toy 2: Repro 32 Ford Highboy roadster (steel, not fiberglas) with an MB running gear, 119 engine of course, matched to a 722.6 trans and MB independent rear suspension. I'd resist the temptation to use an old MB radiator or grille, I'd keep the 32 Ford radiator shell. AMG gauges in the dash, 129 chassis seats, lots of MB-looking wood and leather in the interior, unsure what I'd use for colors. NO FENDERS. Rumble seat.

Well, If I had a million bucks.......

Daily driver would be the Jetta Wagon TDI since MB doesn't have a new diesel car available.

The toy would be the oldest diesel mercedes I could find.

Nobody has ever accused me of being normal!!

To modify a 962 (to make it a "street" or US version) I would think would dilute it somehow. It would only end up being disappointing somehow, compared to the real thing. It's be better to sneak it in to the country somehow and play dumb if you get pulled over. Just hope it's not some Porschephile pulling you over.

ps Or just retain enough of the million so you could just trailer it to different roadcourses and never have to register it.
