Cancer, United Healthcare and compendia oncology drugs

Just found this; you are diagnosed Stage 3 cancer. Your PCP hooks you up with an oncologist. Oncologist starts you on a treatment plan using state-of-the-art up-to-date cancer drugs.

Unbeknownst to you, the patient, your insurance company stays in CLOSE contact with your oncologist to find out if you are responding positively to the drug regimen your oncologist is using.

Answer: yes, all is good Answer: NO, your insurance company then ORDERS your oncologist to TERMINATE the current drug regimen and switch you over to compendia drugs. These are drugs that are 20 to 30 years out-of-date but SAVES the insurance company a LOT of money!

I was told that if your insurance carrier does this to you, it is a virtual DEATH SENTENCE. Apparently, your oncologist is POWERLESS to do anything about it.....

got a little bit more of the story. The patient's wife informs PCP of a mass she saw on his lung X-ray. PCP blew it off, did nothing for one year.

finally after a long year of doing nothing, PCP refers to oncologist. Oncologist is taking care of family issues and is unable to see the patient. four months later oncologist starts patient on Keytruda.
Health insurance company checks in regularly with oncologist for updates. Health insurance company doesn't like what they hear so they go compendia drugs which saves the insurance company a boat load of money. Hubby passes from this earth after four years.....five years from the date his wife first noticed the mass on his lungs on the x-ray but PCP did nothing for one year.

So...just for the record, chemotherapy kills BOTH good and bad cells. Chemo knocks your white blood cell count down a lot. You are then susceptible to catching pneumonia, covid, the flu, you name it because your immune system has been destroyed by the chemo! the oncologist tries to boost your white blood cell count back to normal using 'the day after shot'....price tag? $3000 to $6000 dollars give or take and insurance doesn't always pay for it.

I have spoken with many family, friends and neighbors whose loved ones fought cancer using standard of care chemotherapy and/or radiation. About nine out of ten patients suffered a long and agonizing death going the chemo route.

I know of two who suffered INSTANTANEOUS MASSIVE organ failure and dropped DEAD after only ONE chemo session!!! YIKES and double YIKES!!

The major success chemo stories involve people under the age of 40 due to stronger immune systems. Over 40 years of age? Fuhgetabboutit...
