Turbo Tax

If you use it,buy it now on amazon.I used to get home and business at wal mart for $78,they want $108. So I used Amazon for $68.

I use it every year. Home and Business. I get an email offer from them each year that makes it a bit cheaper than Amazon.

If you buy one now will it be good for 2018 also with the changes? I plan on sending mine in on a post card for 2018.
At first I thought this would a head about Tim (Turbo Tax) Geithner.

I'm guessing you are getting your years mixed up. We will being doing taxes for 2017. If Congress does make any changes to the tax code that are retro active to 2017 then you'll need to.download and update from Turbo to get the correct results.

I think you are the one getting the years mixed up. As I understand it the changes are for the 2018 tax year filing due by April 2019. Have you heard of people in high tax states trying to pay real estate taxes not due until 2018 at the end of last year. The reason for that is SALT taxes paid will be a write off in the 2017 tax year not 2018.
So unless I make a large purchase this year I still plan to send my 2018 tax return in on a post card! Thank You President Trump.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't buy it for 2018 either, thank you President Trump. Talk to a CPA see if they like the new tax plan. I bet they don't, which means it's a better plan for the working class if they dislike it. Less work for them, easier for most middle class people. It also really sucks for those in the zero percent tax bracket, they get screwed again, haha.

I seriously doubt this will impact CPAs business for t/y 2018 & beyond. It will impact commercial preparers Block, turbo and others. Have you heard the Block ads running against TT? Why buy turbo tax when you can file a return with Sch A for free with Block...

As for CPAs.......

On December 22nd, President Trump signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, finalizing a once-in-a-generation overhaul of the existing Code and leaving the once-burdensome tax law so simple, we'll all be preparing our returns on postcards come the spring of 2019.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
/wipes tear from cheek

Simple. That's rich. I'll make a deal with you: how about we spend some time diving into just one aspect of the bill -- the new deduction bestowed upon owners of sole proprietorships, S corporations, and partnerships -- and then you decide for yourself just how simple this all will be?.......................

Turbo tax sold now is for 2017 tax year. If you are concerned about Turbo Tax for 2019 then ou will have to wait for the end of the year.

You know that is a metaphor. I file, or I should say my preparer files mine electronically. But I will certainly save on my cost for the return next year. I will just use the standard married 24k or so deduction and no pile of receipts, a couple of W2s and 1090s. the preparer charges by the hour so I will not even sit there and be charged $150.00/hr to tell her how my vacation last sept was. Just drop of income statements, tell her to use the standard deduction, call me when ready so I can come in and sign, have a nice day.I hope she raises her fee to 250.00 per hour still won't cost me much.

Some people's ideas of a "post card" are a bit larger than others.
