What color R230SL?
My dad is getting an R230. Probably an SL55, which is what he wants.
Now the question is, out of the colors, Black or Silver. Please no comments on other colors. He only wants black or silver, so if you had the choice of only those two, which one do you think is the best color on the car? Thanks, Alon

I would chose SILVER out of those two choices. While they are not the colors I would personally chose, the Silver definately has some "Heritage" behind it. The car looks stunning in Silver and does not show the dust as readily. Please post pics when his car arrives!

Alon, there are 2 types of Silver for R230.... one is the ordinary silver, Brilliant Silver, the other is the new silver called Diamond Silver.... you have to check out both... IMO, Diamon Silver looks very good(it actually appears to be Silver with Pearl Effect..alot like Horizon Blue of W220, but w/out the bluish hue...very cool color)....
But Silver and Black, I would go with Silver..... Andy Kuo

I've seen R230s in both colours and they both looked great. I would go for silver for heritage reasons. But then again, a black SL55 AMG would look pretty damned mean. It would also match your dad's SL600.
There are indeed two silvers. Brilliant Silver is the classic Mercedes-Benz silver. The other silver referred to by Akry is known in Europe as Cubanite Silver. His description is accurate. I have only seen a photograph of a CLK cab in that colour and it looked good. Another silver is called Chalcedonny Blue in Europe. It is very popular here at the moment, and while it looks terrible on the S-Class and CL, it does look good on the SL. I think is must be the same as Horizon Blue in the US.

I talked with him and told him the responses... He's still unsure, I think he's now leaning towards black more...
He's going to get rid of the sl600 when he gets the new car... No need for him to have two sl's, a Range rover and a rolls. He likes having the best... So he has the best english luxury vehicles, and the best german luxury roadster made.Alon

I saw a black one at the Starbucks I frequent...very "batmobile"-looking!
I like your Dad's black SL600 for the same reasons... Black is beautiful baby!

Black is the color I want for all my cars I think it's harder to keep up but well worth it. I did get tired of the Pearl Black on the 500 but still liked it.
