who makes your euros?
brackets?
huh?
what?

560SEL 06-12-2002 09:05 PM

They're made by Bosch. I'm trying to put them in but there needs to be a bracket or something underneath the headlights to secure them. The holes on the brackets underneath the US headlights do not match up with the Euro's. So I was wondering if you guys got brackets w/ your headlights or if you knew where I could order them. The MB dealer doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Ashman 06-12-2002 09:24 PM

sot sure about the 560, but I do not believe anyone has ever mentioned brakets before for a w124 chassis car for eurolights.

What I have heard most talk about brakets was to reposition the wiper motors.

I know one member just installed euros in his 126 car, so you may want to ask him, though I forgot who it was.

Mike,

Your right about the tab at the bottom. That is actually an item you'll have to custom make. If you look at the Hot Rods Forum and search for a 15 page thread for Euro light group purchase on the 500E you'll see I posted the bracket information towards the end of the post.

Barrie should recieve credit for this since he is actually explaining the procedure. I will be using my original wipers with the Euro lights and will be making this bracket out of aluminum.

If you have any trouble finding it let me know and I'll post it here at the end of the day.

Well, we had a great time yesterday. A total of five people were there, including Alon (Ashman): me (suginami), Ernesto (Hi-Power), Rich "woo-hoo" (mushedroom), and Afshin (Placo1 and his 92 500E), . Well, six people, if you include his younger brother who made a late appearance, and was a great crowd-pleaser with his trick of using Flitz metal polish in cleaning old, yellowed U.S. style plastic headlight lenses.

A bunch of pics were taken during the dismantling of the old U.S. lights and installation of the new euro lights. They should be posted soon. Hi-Power... hint hint....

After the installation, we retired into the kitchen, where Alon BBQ'd hamburgers for us. Yes, there was a BBQ inside the kitchen in the center island. An amazing invention. With the burgers, we had beer, soda pop, chips, salsa, guacamole, potato salad, and fruit salad.

In all, the weather, the cars, and the friendship was perfect.

A great day was had by all (although the back of my neck got sunburned from bending down so much observing the installation). lol

I really enjoyed the conversation, and meeting up with everyone who came. It was fun checking out all the well cared for benzes of everyone.

I felt ashamed as my car was filty. I have been afraid to wash it with the cracked windshield. But some spray detailer used by my brother cleaned it up enough to look decent :) hehe.

I can't wait until the next euro install meet. I know there are at least 4 installs dying to be done. :)

Looking at my car with the euros all i can say is if you don't have them, you need them. With some standard 55w sylvania H4 bulbs, the car lights up the road like the sun. I am not kidding.

My car looks completely different now, in fact so different I have been staring at it off and on all day :)

I hope to see everyone at the autowerks express barbeque on june 30 in the san diego area.

What else I can say ?

There is no better way to spend a saturday morning than with a group of members from this forum and their cars.

Alon apart from being a wonderful moderator is also a great host.

He was able to show everybody there the right way to install the euro headlights on his 300CE. It's incredible the big difference this upgrade will do with the appearance and performance of any W124.

I would like to thank everybody that made this GTG possible, I hope we can work something out for the next BBQ on June 30th.

On the following picture you can see the difference the euros made on the 300CE. The before eurolights car ( Rich's ) and the after ( Alon's )

The group of members were pleased learning about polishing the plastic headlight frames. Alon's brother was very kind to share with us some very interesting detailing tricks. Here he is teaching us his FLITZ metal polish lesson on Afshin's immaculate 500E.

Hey everyone,

What a great time to meet everyone and see some beautiful Benzes. It's always nice to see beautiful examples of the W124 and some of the nice touches.

As your all looking at the pics take a look at the new grille on Hi-Power's Car. It's the Avantgard Grille and it updates the front end unbelievably.

To anyone thinking about the Euro's......STOP THINKING AND BUY THEM! They are definitely worth the money. The Depo lights are a nice quality and they can be had very easily, those looking should take a look at this option. By the way Alon showed us all how easy it was to install these lights...in fact he did the first one so fast we didn't even realize it. Luckily we slowed him down on the second light to take some pics.

Alon, thanks for the hospitality and also the chrome trim, appreciate it. Ernesto, thanks for posting the pics, nice job!

Looking forward to the meet in a couple weeks!
