By doing nothing you are showing acceptance of the problem and doing nothing to stop it. If you take no action to stop a problem, you have ZERO room to complain about it.

You mean whining about neighbors on a car forum won't fix the problem?

I used to think that way until the reality of the situation hit me square in the face. This particular neighbor is a blood relative of a very powerful politician. I believe he feels this entitles him to do whatever he feels like including allowing his dog to run up and down the street attacking and biting the neighbors.

I have also witnessed first hand something called 'blow back'. 'Blow Back' occurs when someone decides they want to get even with you for causing them pain or grief. They may have connections down at City Hall you don't know about.

After you complain to animal control or the police, next thing you know you and your family are being harrassed by everyone from the tax collector to the street cop. All because you called animal control on the neighbor who is a 'made man' and has powerful political connections. Yes, his dog is now gone but now your life has become a living hell.

Maybe you luck out and nothing happens; but then again, I've witnessed the direct effects of 'blow back' with my own eyes. In one particular instance, the complainee ended up getting run out of town on a rail. As of this date, he is no longer able to do ANY business in his former community. His business folded and his friends and neighbors changed their phone numbers.

His crime? He sicked government agents on a professional. Did the professional have it coming? ABSOLUTELY; but what happened to him next PROVED that you can be RIGHT AS RAIN and still get the screwing of your life.

Oh, and get this. The government agents didn't even thank him for the 'hot line tip' which resulted in prosecution of the professional. And they certainly didn't give a sh** that his life got turned upside down as a result of all of it.

No good deed goes unpunished. Never forget it.

Whatever, you aren't the one whose business was forced into bankruptcy. It cost him millions + his friends and neighbors and for what? so the government could say they put away an 'evil doer'? It's an interesting story because the guy he went after went out of business because of the government bust. Round one went to the 'complainee' AKA 'whistleblower'. But, as they say, just because you won the battle doesn't mean you get to win the war.

Round two came back and bit the 'complainee' AKA 'whistleblower' in the a**. Seems the guy he busted was a member of a close knit cartel who banned together for the express purpose of running Mr. Complainer AKA Mr. Whistleblower out of town on a rail. Get this, they did and his business reputation will never be the same.

Try not to screw over anyone who is a member of a mafia or cartel because you will regret it.

I wonder if reporting can be done anonymously.

In this day and age of back biting, anonymous is the ONLY way to report a problem or issue. The problem is in most instances government agencies REQUIRE you to give up your name, address, phone number, etc before they will act.

They promise you that they will never reveal your name to the other party but the reality is they have no problem ratting you to whomever.

Recently, a neighbor's car hit another car in the parking lot of a shopping center. Neighbor drove off and never bothered leaving a note on the windshield of the car they hit or sticking around until the other driver came out from shopping.

the other driver had somehow gotten the license plate of the neighbor's car and just happened to know some cops down at the police station. The cops had no problem giving up private DMV information to the car's owner.

For a period of time I saw the driver's car parked directly in front of the neighbor's house. They were literally stalking the neighbor. I thought there was going to be a confrontation but it appeared nothing ever happened. That said, the fireworks could have easily gone off.

Man the US is looking more and more like a 3rd world country, roaming dogs is very much a 3rd world issue.

The local dog catcher should round them up and dispose of them.

Last I checked there are only two or three dog catchers for an area of around 600,000 population. When someone does call them, by the time they arrive the dog has 'mysteriously' disappeared. go figure.

Post Problem Neighbors

I'm the 'bad guy' in my neighborhood because I took the time to petition the city to install speed bumps and hassled the druggies and drug dealers across the street from my house .

I also hassle the visitors who leave trash when they arrive for parties and again when they leave plus I hassle obvious druggies that think hanging around the 'hood looking for mischief is a good thing .

I pick up _any_ trash / bottles/ empty pot containers / etc/ that I can see from my property .

There used to be vehicles abandoned right near my house every few months, I got that to stop too .

One of these dayze I'll get shot or run over, no one will notice nor care .

Literacy (the ability to read) has been dropping in America for some decades now, -YOU- can slow this down as I did with my Son , if you actually care .

Thanx ~ I'm old and disabled, no worries, I'm ready to go at any time unlike both my bad neighbors (some are good) and the arm chair keyboard cowboys .
