Public announcement for New Year's Eve.

Please do not drink and drive. STAY HOME AND STAY OFF THE STREETS on New Years. Yes, the restaurants and bars will lose your business. The benefit to staying home and off the streets is you, along with your family, will wake up the next day safe and secure in your own home in your own bed.

Life is good.

I beg and beseech my fellow forum members to assume the fetal position on your basement floor until mid-April...

Kind of hard to go to a New Years party if you don't drive. I do not drink (Ms Mash married her designated driver) so she has fun and I drive her home.

I really do not understand what kind of trauma or mental break has to happen to a person to be so scared of life.

This. Neither you nor I know the exact percentage of elevated risk of driving on New Year's Eve due to the fact there are a h*ll of a lot more DRUNK DRIVERS out on the STREETS past 10:00 PM on December 31.

I figure, at a minimum, should you and Mrs. Mash decide to go out New Year's Eve and you are behind the wheel past 10:00 PM, your risk of involvement in a collision is at a minimum DOUBLE versus day light driving the rest of the year.

Good luck, you'll need it.

Talking HAPPY NEW YEAR'S !

Amazing ~ I'm mostly in agreement with hm on this .

When I was younger I took some foolish chances and because of my work and lifestyle got to see lots of wrecks and drunk / doped drivers , carnage like Wes Craven movies etc., etc. .

After I turned 25 I was always the designated driver, went to bed just after mid night and got up to provide taxi service to anyone who called, this usually kept me busy into 9AM Jan. 1st.

Now, I just want to go to bed early, I'm all partied out, if SWMBO wants we'll go out to some quieter place to celebrate, mostly we stay home with the Foster boys and she wakes me just before midnight to ring in the new year .

Go, have fun but BE SAFE PLEASE ! .

We walk to our local ball drop, should be warm (if rainy) this year. Last year was brutally cold. Avoids driving and always a good time.

Awwww. Wrong again.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/fatal-accidents-new-years-day/
We actually do no the percentages. Stuff like accidents and deaths are tracked year by year, day by day and we have this thing call math where by people can actually determine the increase of risk involved in various actions.

The fact that you choose to ignore reality and substitute it with your own made up lies does not change the facts of the mater.

Exclamation New Year's Eve Madness

I just learned they're going to close a bunch of down town L.S. streets and have a big public party a la Times Square .

Whew .

Bottom line; you and your family are much safer within the confines of your home than being out and about New Year's eve.

My father used to say nothing good happens after the sun goes down.....

Talking Living In Fear

When I lived Down East I loved the full basements many older homes had, Way Out West they're not common for some reason, a sad thing .

Me, I'm not going to live in abject fear like many here so living in the basement isn't ever going to happen .

Well then ;

No wonder you're afraid of your own shadow .

Star gazing is just one of the many joys of the night .

Normal Humans also like to canoodle in the night....
