Question Feeling Hot ?

I'm a (damn) Yankee born and bred so I don't much mind the cold, when Mom's was in her last years in the S.N.I.F. I noticed they kept it at 90 + degrees inside year 'round.

My Sweet is 76 Y.O. and from Oklahoma City and is always " ! cold !" .

I wonder if this is a normal thing as you age out or where you were born or what .

As we age. I believe our body cells do not generate as much heat as they once did. So it is typical to feel you want more external heat to feel warm.

I imagine this is also progressive with time. For example the house is 70 degrees right now and I like something like a thin sweater over my shirt. I will be 77 in a few months. Also in general I like it a little warmer outside before doing things out there. Than I once did.

The change I really do not like is the ongoing loss of muscle mass. It starts in the early 40s I am told but does not seem to become a real factor till you get up around where I am. Increasing protein intake is said to help. In your mind you go to lift something that once was easy. It just is not so easy anymore.

The amount of muscle mass between my ears seems to be holding well up though.

This is my SoCal: got down to 39º once, mostly mid to high 40's here.

Winter I wear two sweatshirts, and shorts. The cold does not bother my legs, but stomach, chest, arms, ache.

Go to bed, have one blanket over whole bed, one folded in half over feet, legs, another folded in half that I sometimes pull up all the way. The first blanket sometimes I pull down so I only have the sheet over my torso.

Day & night = complete opposites.

Summertime, heat only bothers me at night.

Have not heated the house at all in 4 + years.

Temperature

LOL ! .

Thank you for the laughs guys .

FWIW, SWMBO is in her 70's now so that's part of why she's always cold I think, also the circulation thing, the 'Change Of Life' Women go through is a distant memory .

So far I still have good circulation, my blood is thin and doesn't coagulate well, good for avoiding strokes, no so good in that I'm always bleeding some where .

As far as the bed, when I was younger I always had at least a leg sticking out from the covers to regulate my body temperature, dating back to my first live in GF @ age 14 (I know, I was really stupid) every Woman who's ever shared a bed with me tell me my body temperature spikes after I fall asleep .

Now, hoping SWMBO never reads this forum I have a joke :

? What do you get when you marry a fat tattooed Woman ? .

Talking The Answer :

You get :

Shade in the Summer .

Heat in the Winter and,

Moving pictures all year 'round .

We drove to Nevada last week and SWMBO rode in the back seat and complained about the cold all the way there and home again, I keep a blanket in the car so she can cover up or she'll use an inverted jacket, the wide bottom covers he shoulders and the narrow collar covers he lap, it works well but she'd rather I keep it at 85 ~ 90 degrees all the time, I can't .

Install a heat pump. You want to be comforatable and the price of operation is really nominal. At high thirties and low forties you do need some heat. You will sleep a lot better at night in the hotter summer as well with at least some moderate air conditioning from it

As a prompt you cannot take any money where you are going eventually anyways. Plus you do require more heat usually as you age.

It has to be normal for that age. When I go to Fort Myers to visit my parents the house is at 80!!!!! Me thinks its a blood pressure thing.
