You have to take it slower Nate ~ I've cracked and broken ribs and once ripped the cartilage (?) that holds them evenly, that took over a year to stop hurting .

The neck popping and cracking sounds may well be normal aging, your body telling you to GO EASIER .

I am old enough to not be certain of many things. Yet driving under a doctors orders not to. Could create an issue insurance wise if the company found out and you had been involved in an accident. With those nice insurance companies you never want to give them an edge.

In most cases of heart issues you might bring up if you actually had a heart attack before the bypassing or not. This may change what they think. Otherwise it is usually 4-6 weeks I believe but not certain of this as being universal.

It is hard sometimes to accept there may be a statistical base for many of their practices.

Anyways the upcoming move will keep you occupied for awhile. Unfortunatly. I cannot make it to your yard sale.

why not sell the house?

If you were to take bankruptcy they cannot take your home.

If you sell it the bank will probably agree to take a haircut to get it off their books. Then you would not have to take bankruptcy. I imagine it might also be worth asking the bank to renegotiate the loan with you, a disabled vet (right?)

There are always ways to deal with financial problems. One key though is to keep paying each month what you can afford to show good faith.

Also if you take bankruptcy before selling or abandoning the house you can get rid of other debts so that you might be able then to make the payments.

It doesn't cost anything to ask.

The way it works in our region of Canada. If you are getting pensions. Faced with the costs of doing whatever is required to your home. Telling the authorities you may have to go to a nursing home out of financial necessity..

The nursing homes are private ventures and most pensions will not cover the cost. So the government covers the difference.

So the government figures it is far cheaper to do whatever your house needs. If it can reasonably keep you out of a nursing home. Most the time it is in a totally forgivable grant and there is no lien registered against the property. I have no issue with being totally disqualified and paying our own way.

What is questionable though is the disqualification level is based on having only fifteen thousand dollars or more in the bank.

I do like the ideal of all the housing built for older people. Including everything the cost is 25 percent of your yearly income. It keeps people out that still have a decent cash flow. Yet enables people that have some money but low earnings and pensions to take advantage of them. These places are all inclusive including all utilities, snowplowing etc. Ideal in my mind for those that like to travel a lot as well. People have to be 55 or older to get into one.

Two of our kids have stated that I and or the wife can move in with one of them someday. You never know the future. Although at present I think it is out of the question for the future as they have their lives to live.

Too bad our friend lives here instead of the great white north.

You seem to have an excellent combination of capitalism and socialism of appropriate services.

We have something similar already. No income no assets there are places from just an apartment, to assisted living. they do take most of any social security income you have.
