Dash cam paid off.

Back in Sept I was driving to work. There was a guy tail gating me on a side street. When we go to the light, he whipped around me as we made the turn. I caught up to him on a turn lane at a red light. When it turned green, we nailed it, fish tailed a bit and bounced the rear end off the curb. He was swerving a bit as he went down the road. I saw him make a hard right and disappear on a side road. When I came up on the side road I saw that he lost control and drove into a garage ... not his (lol). Totaled the car and the garage.

I called 911 told them what I saw and that I had dash cam footage. Officer came out and took my info. I figured that was it.

Today, I get a call from a detective saying that they wanted to pin a DUI on the guy and asked if I still had the video. I did. I made a copy and dropped it off at the station.

I hope they nail the bastard.

I have been meaning to get one for a while. I don't see how they can nail someone with a DUI from something that happened two months ago. Off topic but did you have a thread on the install of a an insurance supplied device that tracks your driving habits? If so did your rates go down? If not sorry for the confusion.

The Det said they were looking to.add.chsrges to the the current list they have on the guy.

Yes I did. The savings right now is sitting at about $57 for the two of us over 6 months. Not huge but considering there is no out of pocket for me and no inconvenience, why not.

Never saw them apprehend him. He fled the scene and they found him around the block.

Its nice to do something good and get a bad guy off the roads to make it a little safer. A win for the good guys.
