RWD just seems to want to deride those of us who chose, for what ever reason, not to drive a stick. It will not change the future of the stick shift.
Lack of popularity is directly related to lack of being able to do it properly like everyone could 50 years ago. No one needed abs or cars that even turned or stopped reasonably well and it wasn't a constant blood bath somehow. Ever drive a 60's or 70's car? Because people could actually drive to some degree. Paid attention to the road. Now you get tested to see if you know how to adjust your mirrors. Vehicle operators not drivers. Why learn to do something when you don't have to? It's the new way. It's irrelevant I guess. I'm not buying anything remotely like that ever anyway. Idiocracy is happening right before our eyes and it's kinda funny. Demolition man, when she says" you can't self drive at these speeds!". Who do I sue when your auto lane keeper fails and hits me ? You or Toyota? Sad but funny in a ridiculous way. And no stick shift Corvette is a direct result. Crapola.

I didn’t say in any way that anyone said that. I was explaining to those open minded enough to understand, why I like driving a stick. Each to his own. A concept you might want to consider.

I'd suggest you go buy one then, huh? Hating on an inanimate object's features and benefits because you don't own one, seems to be your mantra. I love everything about mine. Especially the RevMatch. I love it's performance as well. 455hp and 460 ft lb torque. 30 mpg highway is better than my 1st diesel Mercedes-Benz. Driving without RevMatch is similar to driving a non-synchromatic stick. Perhaps you're of the thinking that synchromatic manual transmissions are too modern as well? You're living in the past not wanting ABS or TC, (traction control). Perhaps you believe that non-power drum brakes are superior as well? If so, then non-power steering cars are better suited to your needs too then. Disc brakes and radial tires and horns are out too then, right? Fact is you seem to love bashing things that you probably cannot afford. Is that true? If so, we're not missing anything about it.

I had a stick for a out 13 yrs. I do not want one any more. Simple as that. Not going to go through the ABS argument again or the rest of it for that matter

What the hell are you on about? Like driving a non syncromatic trans huh? You mean a non syncronized trans I suppose? Not even remotely, although I can do that too. I can drive your car without grinding gears, shifting without touching the clutch pedal as well. It's called skill and understanding how it's all working. I rev match every gear, meat foot. HEAR THAT!? I, ME, MYSELF rev match every gear with my feet. If you cannot do it or grasp that great. Buy a slushbox car. I don't hate on a manual trans vette at all. I just would never use the computer to drive it for me.

Added on

These things are a "benefit" for you, not me. It takes away from my driving pleasure. I've already explained about traction control and abs. It's not the same as power steering or power brakes. My inputs are controlling them. No computer is telling the power steering to change my input it's assisting them. Abs is fixing your screw up same as traction control. Man, I may be "old fashioned" but you are dense as MDF.

Very cool. There is a certain elegance to that car even stripped down.

I'd love to drive one just to scare my self silly and get it out of my system.

You are trying way to hard to convince anyone that you own a Vette. I wonder if you can even afford one.

Back then sticks were better transmission. Better gas mileage, better engine control, especially downhill. Our last stick got sold in 2014. As transmissions, modern ATs are just better, though I still savor that last ride and well-timed down shifts with right foot rev-matching.

But better is better, and modern ATs are better than sticks.

Uh.....no..... What's better about it?

Sticks still do achieve better gas mileage, better engine control, and don't cost thousands of $$$ to fix as your automatic transmissions DO, if ever. Your "right foot doesn't rev-match." You might have thought it did, but it didn't...

I'd have to agree with Skids on this. (mark that down).

Which is better is completely dependant on how you value things. Personally I like shifting. A stick will outlast an automatic and be cheaper to repair if needed, too.

The C8 transaxles are already blowing-up at the dragstrip- 500hp will do that. The YouTubers are posting every /fail of the C8......quite entertaining and enlightening. It'll be interesting to see how the DCT (transmissions) hold up as well. I wouldn't own one for anything! Let the RWDs of this world buy em.

I've got my manual 7-speed stick Corvette. I'm good.

Sticks no longer get better fuel economy in everyday driving. Any decent AT can control engine speed as well as a stick.

If you like it for the fun factor, go with it. But it is no longer better, or even cheaper to buy. I have not had any modern AT fail on me.
