Rare and $$$ Benz
A 1939 Mercedes Benz "Silver Arrow", one of only three in existence valued at $12 million, is shown on display June 13, 2002 in Los Angeles at the Petersen Automotive Musuem's new exhibit "Million Dollar Cars The World's Most Valuable Automobiles." A 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rosa valued at $5 million is in background. The exhibit opens to the public June 17 and runs through January 27 |

Man what a nice piece! I wonder if they only built three cars or that only three remain in existence? Anyone know who drove this one? I don't see a number on it. Must have been sanded off and never put back on

I think it meant that only 3 exist today. Even back then, I doubt many were made for the races. Still an amazing part of history.
Since this car is in SoCal... maybe Alon can get some more info on the car?

I'll head out to see the museum when it opens the display. Since my father loves cars, I know he'll enjoy coming to see them.
