Rise of Skywalker

Well, the saga is over. Saw it tonight and after 42 yrs, the story has come to an end. Kind of bummed. It was a great move. Very well done. Lots of action, a little humor and a good story line.

I have to say that I only partially agree. I think the final statement at the end was ludicrous, given the title and her pedigree. They did better than the previous one which I liked in some repsects but found repulsively stupid in terms of an OD of ludicrous political correctness that has no place in a star wars movie. At least they managed to ditch that for the most part in this one. No doubt the head of Disney ripped Kathleen Kennedy a new one after No8.

However. 7 8 and 9 have done nothing to really dispel my original opinion which is that they are pointless. The story fundamentally is good vs evil. In the first six you get the jedi battling the sith. The baddies get the upper hand and then after a seesaw struggle with the usual conglomeration of heroes, villians and sidekicks good triumphs.

So what's the point of the last three? It's just a rehash of the basic concept. They had to undo everything that that the first six films did. Reset the whole story to ground zero and then try and condense the entire first six films down into three before the original trio of central leads were dead.

If they had been more careful with the plots of 7 8 and 9 they may have kept my interest more. I think that I'll see the first six quite a few more times in my life but I doubt I'll ever watch any of the new trilogy again.

I liked this last one. It didn't have the entire feel of episodes 4&5. It didn't have (as much), the stupid Disney type scenes that the last two did. I rate is about equal to Solo. Solo just lacked the Star Wars soul. I did like the last of the prequels. I actually rate it a bit above this film. I don't want to spoil it if people haven't seen it yet. I thought they left out some of the characters. Could have had another story line with those.

Rogue one was great. The first 3 prior to Lucas mucking about with them were great.

The rest including the most recent range from mediocre/OK to appallingly bad.

The disneyfied ones are a better quality, but short on new concepts

I thought the prequels were inferior...and didn’t get back into it until this recent trilogy. Still need to find the time to go see it
