So why would you not start squirrel hunting? At my late parents house they were getting out of control. They were eating into the attic and tearing up the storage house. I harvested a half dozen on one Saturday using .22 shorts to keep down the noise. I don’t think any of their neighbors ever knew it, but if they had would probably not have said anything because they were a pest for them as well.

IIRC coyote urine works well here .

I have a squirrel problem too , because I have dogs I can't posion them and chasing them 'round the yard with a shot gun isn't good in the city either....

Use .22 shorts. They can barely be heard, but they get the job done. My parents house was in the city too. They had an 8 feet stockade fence so no one knew what I was doing. Without that, yeah, it would be more difficult or impossible to pull it off that way.

I have a .22 pellet gun that is subsonic and gets the job done. Haven't needed to shoot any squirrels, there is plenty of pine cones on the neighbor property to keep them away...

Yeah a good .22 pellet gun will get the job done. Is it rifled or smoothbore? The advantage to .22 shorts is the rifling for better accuracy.

There are some pretty good .177 cal pellet guns out there. Legal in your city? Scope and head shots, 1 and done.

3. Pick up coyote and hold over engine compartment...

Step one, if in a hurry use beer instead of water.
PITA sure to complain to the mods about this post.

Why would it be a PITA for PETA to complain about this thread?

Blow guns work I understand. Not legal in California, best be careful. I can understand why they're banned. Those darts are 1/32 inch diameter, suckers are 4 inches long or so and I bet two inches would bury in your flesh if given the chance. I know when I put them in a sheet of 3/4 ply, I needed to use pliers to take it out. And silent. A real stealth weapon. I got pretty good aim up to about 30 feet.

I bought mine mail order maybe 2000, 2001 before they were outlawed. Was a 4 footer - 2 piece, joined in the middle. I killed maybe 5 - 6 pigeons once. A client had a bunch of them roosting on the power line below the 2nd story eaves of her neighbors house, they covered the sidewalk to the door in the backyard to the basement unit with pigeon poop. Under the eaves the darts couldn't sail out into the neighborhood. I felt a bit weird about it, but pigeons are classified like rats, no limitation on extermination. Suckers would bury into their chest, a minute later they'd fall off. Not once would one fly off from the commotion. Even with the several darts I buried into the wood. Fast asleep, must not worry about predators up there.

A buddy told me he saw a guy pin a squirrel to the eaves of a house one time. Went right through it and into the wood. Who knows. I did the math, the diameter of the dart would be a quarter inch if scaled up to my body size compared to a pigeon. Squirrel size would be similar. Would be about like an arrow for a human.
