So why would you not start squirrel hunting? At my late parents house they were getting out of control. They were eating into the attic and tearing up the storage house. I harvested a half dozen on one Saturday using .22 shorts to keep down the noise. I don’t think any of their neighbors ever knew it, but if they had would probably not have said anything because they were a pest for them as well.

IIRC coyote urine works well here .

I have a squirrel problem too , because I have dogs I can't posion them and chasing them 'round the yard with a shot gun isn't good in the city either....

Use .22 shorts. They can barely be heard, but they get the job done. My parents house was in the city too. They had an 8 feet stockade fence so no one knew what I was doing. Without that, yeah, it would be more difficult or impossible to pull it off that way.

There are some pretty good .177 cal pellet guns out there. Legal in your city? Scope and head shots, 1 and done.

Honda has in its inventory electrical tape infused with capsaicin to ward off pesky vermin.

1. Feed coyote plenty of water
2. Open hood of car
3. Pick up coyote and hold over engine compartment...

Yep, I killed a bunch of squirrels when I was a kid with a .177 Benjamin pump and it was a smooth bore.

Nate, they’re easy to hit when standing still. The way to get them to stop out of curiosity, is to roll your tongue up and rearward to the back roof of your mouth. Draw a little air and you can quickly learn to make a sound much like a squirrel. They will stop out of curiosity. If you’re ready for the shot when they stop you can hit them easy. If you think you may have lost some marksmanship skills over the years as I have, a .22 with shorts will be better because it is rifled. A smooth bore pellet gun will put you at a disadvantage.

Hope this helps.

Stuff like that makes me a militant garage owner (or renter). I'm currently paying $152/month to keep a 2007 Chevy Cobalt (worth about $2500) inside a garage, and it's money well spent.

Talking A Garage

I have a garage, it's a 1923 'T' Model garage and I've never even had a Motocycle in it.... too much crap .

Besides, the dang squirrels get in there too and p*ss all over every thing .

I have a .22 pellet gun that is subsonic and gets the job done. Haven't needed to shoot any squirrels, there is plenty of pine cones on the neighbor property to keep them away...
