Euro's, Euro's

Here's what may be a dumb question If euro headlights look better, if they light the road better, if they are what us Benz owners go out of our way to put on our cars, why are they not on the cars in the first place? Are they not DOT approved? Or.........

They weren't DOT approved at the time most of our cars were made. DOT always lags behind the rest of the world - replacable bulb lights weren't legal for a while, ditto halogen bulbs. By the mid 1990s DOT approved lights that are essentially the same thing as Euros - my 98 C class (DOT) low beam pattern is identical to my 87 Euro (non-DOT) low beams.

Rick, if you don't have euros you need them. The light output is like night and day. literally.

to me they light up the road like the sun.

The headlights laws for the department of transportation were written in the early 70s by the people that said that halogen lights are too bright...aaaa.

Now, EURO lights and DOT lights are the same for mercedes. All the new mercedes come with EURO lights in the US.

People in america would rather not have to deal with glare than be able to see down the road. They would rather their brakes not squeal than stop (In my case I want them to not squeak, but stop -Im still struggling with this).

Anyway, Upgrade to EURO lights.

I lucked out and bought a car that already had them But I didn't know what I had until I had to replace one after a gravel truck decided to share some of his load with me. Ouch!! $105.00 for a new glass! But your right. They are the way to go!

There's a dealer on ebay called importbaron, I beleive. I bought a pair of Bosch lenses for my 83 280 SL Eruo from him for 75 bucks.

Yeah, I'll shop around more next time I need a lens. I was still wet behind the ears when I bought that one

Before buying anything from importbaron on eBay, take a look at this thread (just one of 4 or 5 on the saga with this guy on the diesel board) and this website.

I don't know man. I bought a bunch of stuff from him and it went fine. He's got a 98.4% feedback rating on 2,000 transactions, thats what I went by. I appreciate the info tho, I'll be a little more wary dealing with him in the future, but at this point I've got to say I would buy from him again.

If you had seen how Ebay removed negative feedback from this guy's rating, you'd never trust the feedback ratings again.

That's fair, although FYI, according to the accounts I mentioned before, he has the ability to remove negative feedback from his profile.

That said, it does sound to be hit-and-miss...some people (such as you) have had great experiences with him, while others have their horror stories to tell.

I'm really careful with eBay, and so far I've been lucky...only one defective item, and the seller took care of it without a fuss. So, still a perfect feedback rating for me

My brother has been a big Ebay user for several years now, with no real bad luck. But suppose there are the ones to watch out for.
