Hot squirrel

This morning as it was beginning to be daylight I was pulling out to go to the autocross when I saw a huge flash spreading sparks all out from an electric pole up near where the wires attach. I saw something fall and looked around at the ground thinking there must be transformer parts lying about. None...then I saw a charred squirrel lying on the side of the road. I guess he bit the wrong thing.

Amazing it does not happen more often.

the power plants Ive been inside all have multiple stories/burn marks somewhere that an animal got in but shouldnt. Its nice to know their death was quick though. every once in a while more in-depth cleanup is needed, which requires an outage and lockout/tagout. that gets annoying quick.

You obviously do not live in my area. Squirrels winging their way to heaven is a daily event, sometimes more than once.

Zillions of pecan and oak trees, even more zillions of squirrels. Even a healthy hawk/eagle/owl population isn't enough to keep their numbers down.

On Guam, every electrical substation fence has traps for brown tree snakes, a non indigenous snake who likes to cause short circuits by slithering into/onto places they shouldn't.

There was a story years ago about a would be copper thief doing the wrong thing at some transfer station and living to tell about it, for about a day IIRC. A witness said he was on fire and was screaming. Wow. I guess that might stimulate a scream all right.

I think the time in the crock pot is used to tenderize the charred parts...

I wonder what side PETA would take on that practice.

But, from your description it sounds as if it’s precooked.

Not my story. A girl where I worked and her Boyfriend went for a high speed drive out in some remote desert roads.

When they pulled over they found they had killed a Rabbit which was still hanging from the right side of the Car (right of the grill) and the Rabbit had bled out streaming all of the blood 1/2 down the side of the Car.

They got a fire going and cooked and ate the Rabbit.
