If possible add an assistance bar on the wall. For that toilet.

We have one bathtub that I have not gotten around to putting safety bars on the surround.. To slip and fall in a bathtub is perhaps about as bad as it gets.

You probably would not believe how careful I am when using that tub. At one time most cast iron tubs had a rim you could grasp I remember. A feature consigned to history pretty much.

So yesterday the plumber came and put the low seat toilet back kupstairs, ditched the one piece and installed a new vac assist gerber. It sucks everything down in a half second but makes a horrid noise. I wont be able to flush at night without waking up the mrs.
yeah the vacuum assist flushes strong but definitely is not quiet. It also requires decent water pressure. The noise never bothered me enough but thats something I never thought of. I should be finishing our bathroom in the next week or two. It will be great to take that first ceremonial shyt.

Cool Noisy Toilets

Oh, yeah ~ I remember toilets like the one in Archie Bunker's house that everyone could head down stairs .

I can't hear my Kohler but I also don't wear my hearing aids unless I have to so...

In any case I have low water pressure and the elongated bowl, I now wish I'd taken a picture of the box for model and part number info as this one too has never had a clog and the old one it replaced clogged just for fun I think .

Not close enough to the wall for a hand bar .

I don't take baths anymore and use a non slip mat in the tub .

Thanks for humor and serious comments. I guess a toilet thread just invites all our favorite feces humor!

Speaking of toilets-My 2 Kohler toilets were leaking through the flush valve so I went to get the gasket-$9 each for a ring of rubber. So I decided to relace the flush valves altogether. Bought the standard kits from Amazon. Took off the tank of the first toilet. The tank hole is a totally different size-much larger. Did some more research-there are many different Kohler flush valves depending on the toilet. It has a canister style flush valve that seems prone to breaking. I did find a Kohler flapper style valve that is compatible with the 3" hole so I can convert to the more conventional and easily replaceable flapper. Apparently these toilets have a "Class 5" flushing system that requires a larger 3" hole from the tank to the toilet for more efficient flushing.

Dolifin plumbing is the brand of elongated toilets I have been using. They have a range of models. I use the Seattle model. Perhaps available at big box stores. Not pricy either.

I'm very happy with the toilets. Not happy with the funky canister flush valves. Nice to find a Kohler flap flush valve for the toilet. Probably for a different market with less stringent codes.
