Well...this sucks

80 year old ran a red light and plowed into my 560SL. I'm sure its totaled...I'm covered by Hagerty with an agreed valuation. The other guy was unharmed, and was given 3 citations for his part. His insurance called this morning to inform me that they accept responsibility due to two eye witnesses seeing that I had the left green arrow. They also told that they will call me in a few weeks with an offer for pain and suffering.

After that call, I contacted my attorney and have an appointment on Tuesday. I have a separated sternum, bruises across the chest from the seat belt, and both knees bruised from hitting the dash...my neck is pretty raw from the belt, and I've had a headache since the accident.

The old girl did her job...

very sorry to hear it Jon! I hope your injuries heal well.

As a possible bright spot there are good 107s around. I saw one yesterday a block from my house in Maple yellow.....spectacular condition. I wanted it.

If you want to replace it looks like lots to choose from.

They don't call the R107 the Panzerwagen for nothing! Hope you heal fully and quickly...

I'm heartbroken due to the sentimental value...I got it from my father-in-law in 2008...he died in 2009. That connection is the only reason I refused to trade it in on something else. It was my connection to a revered man.

At the end of the day, a car is just a car. As long as you live, the memory lives.

Yes, cars can always be replaced. That said, your 560SL looked like it was a real beauty. Hopefully you will heal up and get back on your feet soon.

I'm seeing more and more red light runners; I have no idea what is driving this, they were doing it long before COVID but the current COVID crisis seems to be making it worse.

It seems many of the red light runners are going about double the posted speed limit.

Good to see you made it. Looking at the photos ... were you coming from the direction same as that Springfield rescue squad?

And those mattress signs have been everywhere for 2 years now. most of them can't be legally placed.

At 80 years of age, ones reflexes and driving skills generally aren't very good. They need to hang up their spurs.

Good to hear you're still with us Jon ;

Don't be too sure you're O.K., tissue damage often takes a few days or weeks to become fully evident .

Terrible news to hear you lost your baby, more so because of it's provenance .

Keep us posted and be very careful with those knees ! .

Yes, the way rescue is pointed is how I was originally. The picture was taken from the angle I was turning left towards.

I met with my attorney, and he is going to handle everything health related, as well as pain and suffering. Hagerty sent the car to the appraiser, and I'm waiting to hear word on it. I should know more in a few days.

Physically, I'm still in rough shape. Left knee is bruised up pretty good,. I can't feel the skin at the impact point in a 5 inch circle, but it hurts below skin surface if I touch the area. I feel itching, pins, and needles just at the edge of that circle, and can't scratch it away. My sternum is painful, and as it lessens, the pains from my back increases. My neck is a wreck...while the headrest stopped my head from flying backwards, nothing stopped it from whipping to the side, and then forward.

I see a follow-up doc later today, andcwill most likely enter into some sort of PT or further treatment. I'm also going to a chiropractor on Friday.

I hope to get the painful parts fixed soon, as I haven't had more than 45 minutes of solid sleep since the accident. Between the pain and the flashbacks of the impact, I can't sleep or relax.

I've had to resort to relying on a volunteer to follow through with my list and instructions at the Judo Academy so we can stay on schedule. I haven't been there since the accident, but have been told that we are still on schedule to have the hall ready for use by the 1st of the month. I will have my wife drive me out there after the doctor appointment so I can physically see and confirm what I've been told. Getting this running will allow us to raise operating expenses quicker, allowing us to hopefully hit the November 1st grand opening for the academy.

I got beat up by an 80 year old in a minivan...and its screwed me up.

I'm very sorry to hear the full extent of your injuries. Best wishes with it.
